  • Happy day A&P is gone. We only had one store in town but none now due to monopoly. When can we get a real store like SHOP RITE as I have no place to shop or my medicine. Good by A&P Morris County

  • To the department of human resources and corporate executives:

    I am the sister of a dedicated employee whom has been committed from her hiring at the Croton A&P in Westchester County NY. She rose through the ranks and became a front end manager only to be humilated, dehuminized, and harrased among other things. In addition to the psychological abuse suffered, when my sister made a formal complaint she was demoted. The night manager named France continuously and agressively screams at her, following her through the store calling her the most repulsive names in front of customers and workers alike; it was so aggressive and threatening that the police had to be called and my sister had to be escorted out for her SAFETY. How does the A&P company condone the humilation and harssnent of a 22 year old girl especially when done by a 50 year old man? Why has there been no disciplinary action taken against this man? This is not just a moral, ethical and psychological issue, it has become a legal issue. We have contacted multiple union representatives and district managers with no avail; this is completely unacceptable. I am writing this for all to see the negligence of your company and its disservice to its hardest workers. It is dispicable that any company would allow its employees to be treated so disgracefully. My sister is suffering from psychological trauma being treated like less of a person coupled with the neglect of your human resource representatives. I am thoroughly appalled by your acceptance of this disgraceful behavior; hopefully after reading this post you will take the necessary actions to fire the shovanist who sadistically torments young women psychologically.

  • Was looking for the corporate office number to send in a complaint about the Greenburgh, NY A & P. Apparently… not the only store with the same issues. WOW A&P you have really gone down hill!!

  • I live in Fort Lee NJ and do not understand why the A&P market is run so poorly. Never properly stocked, items that expired still on shelves. No matter what day any of us shop, we only use the A&P for one or two items if they have them. I will go out of my way to shop anyplace but the A&P. Great location, good people work there, but not a store any of us can rely on.Hope a new market comes in soon!

  • Placed an online order for your garden city, ny store very early in the morning on 2/21/15 for a 1-3pm delivery time. Received a call shortly after 3pm regarding missing items (shopping not done until past delivery time). by 6:30 pm nothing was delivered –called the store to find out what happened. No one knew as online staff had left already. However, they did tell me that my whole order was in the refrigerator. (What!?) I received notification that my credit card had been charged at 5pm on 2/21/15. called 2/22/15 to find out what happened and was told the delivery is an outside company and the drivers must have put the order in the back and not said anything. They no longer saw my order but didn't know if it was out for delivery or had been reshelved. (Again, What!?) Was told they'd check and call me back. Never heard from them. My account still has not been credited the money back. So for two days you have tied up my grocery funds and wasted my time by keeping me waiting 2 DAYS for a delivery that never happened. Could the customer service be any worse? The online staff didn't have the time or courtesy to notify me on 2/21 that the delivery wouldn't happen yet they did have the time to charge my card for groceries they knew would not be delivered judging by the time of the ring up (5PMish) nor did they provide the courtesy of a call back on 2/22 even though by the time I spoke to them 29 hours had passed since they received my order. Also, since they marked the order COMPLETE (which is FALSE as the order was still in the store) on the afternoon of 2/21 (even though it has NOT yet been delivered on 2/21 or 2/22) I don't even have the option of canceling the order online. In addition there was some blaming the delivery company, who is running your online service –you or the delivery company? Your in-store online staff definitely assumes no responsibility when things go wrong so I can only logically conclude they are not especially responsible people nor supervised to be so by the manager. I don't know if you have a corporate or local management problem but I do know if you are not meeting sale expectations you need to look at your very poor customer service. This may be a large chain with a majority of supermarkets in certain areas but even a goliath company like yours can be driven into the ground through poor customer service and bad or indifferent management. Seriously, don't you think 3 days for a delivery is a bit much? Particularly as it was paid for the day of the order request. Doesn't it embarrass you that your brand is presented to the public as confused, irresponsible, and lackadaisical?

  • I was at the Hoboken A&P and what I saw was beyond crazy I was at the store at 1pm yesterday at the fish dept. I saw the seafood manager working in the meat department using gloves I asked for help as I waited there 15min. she came over with an attitude and asked how can I help you I asked for some cod fish she never changed her gloves. as I stood there to see what else she would touch with the gloves and she added more raw shrimp to the case of seafood as I walk to the meat dept she was there again she asked how can I help you I said I need a small pack of chop meat with the same gloves on she served me NOW ISNT THAT CROSS Contamination???????????????????????? I LOVE GETTING SEAFOOD after 3pm where there is a young guy who washes his hands changes his gloves every fish he touches gives you fresh fish from the back great guy I have to get his name today I tried calling corporate but nobody answers…. I brought the situation to JOHN B. attention and all he said was if I didn't like it don't come back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! little as he knows he takes money from the coffee machine you have there and puts it in his pocket I seen it with my own eyes………. if there is problems like this where do I go who do I talk to since nobody cares?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  • Don't ever work for this company. I been trying since November to get a hold of the corporate office and have them send me a letter stating I don't work for them any longer. I need it for my benefits. The work conditions have been terrible and I kept getting sick and my manager refused to give me the hours that I could work. I have a young child and only wanted to work while she was in school. Kept asking for those hours but she kept giving me later. This made it hard at home being I didn't always have a reliable person to watch my daughter. I had to walk out for the sake of my family. Then you insult me at a register in front of customers instead of waiting for no one to be around. Worst is it was in front of works I deal with and even doctors and other people I know from the community. These are people I know personally and see often. Now they all have had a bad impression of me and treat me poorly since. Customers wonder why we are in a bad mood when working is because we are treating terribly by managers. I don't care about what pressure they have we are still humans not being treated like we are.

  • What has happen to the Food Emporium chain? The store's are gross, poorly stocked and extremely unhelpful staff. Total opposite of what I use to remember. From Manager's to stock boys … all useless! No wonder they are dropping like flies. . RIP Food Emporium

  • Dear Corporate office, In the past three years since you guys has taken over we have not had any heat in the stores that you own as pathmark stores you are losing a lots of customer and causing a lots of unhappy employees no one should have to work with our coats on and hats. You want us to have uniforms on to represent A&P/Pathmark you cannot see the uniform for the coats and layers of clothing that we have to wear the winter are getting colder so please can we get some heat

  • STOP PLAYING NUMBER GAMES. If something will cost $2.00 after using a bonus card with the 5% discount on Tuesdays, with the coupon that was suppose to come in the mail, but oops didn't and by the way we don't have the product now so I will give you a rain check which on the tide free 150 oz bottle was never available. Each time a store increases the games, I decrease shopping there. I have done this with most stores that require "loyalty cards". I have other stores in my area and will gladly inconvenience my self to drive a bit farther to a store that does not have loyalty cards. I use to spend $100.00 a week at the A%P. Now I barely spend $30.00 a week. Keep up the good work.

  • Been shopping the A&p in cliffwood for years..my favorite department is the dairy department and there is always a young man there that is very pleasant and very helpful..I believe his name is ed..well today I walked into the store and find out that he was moved to another store..I am completely heartbroken please bring him back the department I saw today looked terrible

  • Please do something about the A&P in Bronxville NY it has some of the worse service I have ever seen. This morning I stood at the deli counter and was ignored while the staff who look right at me but continued to prepare food for the shelves. I waited about five minute but note word a simple I will be with you in a shortly would be nice. If they do not service customers between the hour of 9 and 10am then say so. I writing because this has happen before. I left and got my old cuts at the deli around the Corner.

  • Went into the A&P in Wall to just grab some bread for my lunch. There was a worker in produce who was so drunk she was stumbling all over the store. Then later that week I was at the B-Bar and there she was drinking like a fish, at 1230pm during her lunch brake!

  • Here is a little different scenario. I am not commenting as a customer because I gave that up long ago.I am commenting as a former employee of Pathmark.
    I will be 65 shortly and am trying to contact the Pension Department to start the ball rolling to get my pension in November. I got the corporate HQ number and listened to the menu. None of the choices was appropriate so I entered option 1, which is benefits and human resourses. I then listened to another menu. One again, none of the options was appropriate so I just picked one. I figured that I would eventually get to an option where I could speak to a real live person so I can ask for the department. Not a chance. I was eventually disconnected and tried again with using a different option. I got the same results. I tried again. This time I tried to beat the sysytm and I chose the option for a persons name. They ask you to spell the name. I spelled p-e-n-s-i-o-n and the first name and d-e-p-a-r-t-m-e-n-t as the second name. The response? No one here with that name.I tried getting creative and spelled the last name s-m-i-t-h and first name of j-o-h-n. I figured I would then ask Mr Smith to transfer me to the pension department. He was out to lunch. I guess A&P is also||||||||

  • I doubt they read any of these comments, as the stores wouldn't still be in bad shape everywhere if they cared. I haven't been in one yet, that was a Wow kind of store! the only wow i give them is that there prices are high, the shelves sometimes are dirty with expired food, the customer service people are uneducated along with some, not all, of their cashiers, and the policies are not consumer friendly! Another form of "big business owners not knowing how to run a proper business". I'm going elsewhere for now on…Pathmark isn't worth the aggravation and I'd rather give my money to those who care about their customers.

  • My local Pathmark store is in Boothwyn, PA and is the WORST grocery store I've ever been in! I have tried to give them multiple tries, meaning almost every time we go into that store we encounter a problem! I don't with my other usual stores. This one is close by and when we need up to five items we go here. NO MORE! I WILL MAKE THE TRIP TO ANOTHER STORE! Today we tried to use a $1 off coupon on Cascade…it IS a manufacturers coupon and has been accepted in every other store i've shopped in (incl dollar stores, dollar generals, Acme, and Shoprite etc)…NOT pathmark! It didn't scan so I took it to the girl who said we don't accept these, its an Acme coupon. I pointed out the difference as I had Acme coupons in my pocket that state Acme Coupon or In-store whatever it says-I'm too mad to check it right now lol). so after I explained the difference I took it to cust svc, they are EQUALLY DUMB! The woman explained yeah, its a manufacturers coupon but only redeemable at Acme. I asked her to show me where it says that…it said "can be redeemed at Acme". So, that means, I can or cannot redeem it at Acme and since its a manufacturers coupon it should be redeemable ANYWHERE!..After pointing out for the last time how incompetent they are, we left. I needed the things and didn't have time to drive to the other stores, so we reluctantly made our purchase. (Trust me my husband was ready to leave the items right there out of spite and tired of the idioticness that goes on in that store). One of the last times we shopped there, they had items on a sale table. Nothing marked of course. So we asked the girl at the check out if she could do a price check for me. I've worked in retail for years and have never heard this. She said, "no, I can't do a price check. You have to buy it and then ask for a refund." I'm not kidding! I stood there in disbelief and said I need you to scan this item and tell me what it cost. Her reply was, "I can't like I said you have to purchase it and then get a refund." After I laughed cause I couldn't take her dumbness anymore, I went up to the great desk of Customer Service. So I thought, silly me, that I would get someone with common sense. Nope! I explained that the cashier told me she couldn't do a price check and I'd have to buy it first. She responded with both, "what's the price on the table say and she's right we can't check a price without purchasing it" I looked at her with total amazement and laughed out loud and now had fun with this…I said you mean to tell me you can't tell me how much something cost cause 1. you have NO prices on the table anywhere btw cause if you did I am an intelligent person and would see the price and not need a price check and 2. I have to buy something in order to get the price. OOOOkkkaaayyy. So I said ring it up. She says she can't cause theres no tag. I wanted to smack her with item as I also tried to tell them that there was no tag, I left that part out of my story cause the girl only gave delight in answering the purchase comment. Not the fact that there was no darn tag! Wake up Pathmark! You WILL be closing your stores soon as you don't stock your shelves enough with choices (you give maybe four choices when theres 20 out there) and your employees are lacking intelligence. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this stuff out so maybe start hiring intelligent people and trained people. I'm forever going elsewhere with my business and will be telling others to do the same. The convenience isn't worth the trouble and aggravation. These aren't the only problems we've had. You've sold bad meat, expired cans, and fruit that has fuzz on it. In fact I've already shredded my pathmark card. So long, good luck, and start reading what your dissatisfied customers are saying!

  • South Plainfiueld A@P is the worst run store I haver been in. The manager is very rude. The store is filthy. I mentioned to the manager Steve about the hand baskets how filthy they are and needed to be cleaned GUESS WHAT IT WAS NEVER DONE the garbage is always overfloweing and the restrooms are a disaster SHAME ON YOU

  • To the district manager for the South Plainfield NJ My name is Amylin I am a loyal customer for your South Plainfield NJ store, & I was shocked that you allow your employees to come in a half an hour or more late every day, & that your store manager allows this to take place. The employee working at the deli counter was supposed to leave at 4pm & stayed until 4:30pm when the employee decided to come in, He married my cousin & had to drive his wife to work & she was late for work because of this. Her car was out of commision & needed a ride to work. What does "BE ON TIME FOR YOUR SHIFT MEAN?" I guess not all employees obey that. It is not fair to let them get away with it & make other person wait until they decide to come in.

    kept coughing in his hands handling people food .I had a problem with my card an I swiped it 3 time an while I was swiping he's yelling strike 1 strike 2 strike 3 .no customer service skills at all .an steady coughing in his hand handling people food . Rude disrespectful.!!!!!!!

  • I can no believe !! This is why your store in Tinton Falls, NJ is empty , no customers at all ! TERRIBLE , TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE BUSINESS !!. from the general manager to the customer services. I will never recommended your business at all.
    If you really want to make it . You need to find a new General Manager as well get new supervisor in your customer services area. These people do not care at all. They believe their union may help them to clean of this complaints. Maybe you will keep your employees for few more years. but your store will continue empty. no clients at all !. shame , shame of you !!!!!.

  • I have shopped in the Hopewell store since it opened being its so close to my home I don't like the prices as much as Shoprite & the sales aren't as good either but that isn't my issue, The workers there are by far some of the unfriendliest people, I always try to think people can have a bad day but this is all the time, on two occasions I had the floral manager arrange a bouquet for me & it was done with poor quality & the girl Samantha up front has shown her nasty side too me several times, my daughter worked there when it first opened so I try to remember that but there is no reason for me to be treated like im bothering anyone. So now I will travel to Hannaford where im treated much different, Shame on you A&P for not training your people to show better customer service skills!!

  • The A&P supermarket on Albany Post Road in Croton/Cortlandt Manor NY is an abomination to the principles set forth and followed by this long standing and highly reputable market. The physical plant is a disgrace. I hope the inside and back rooms are cleaner and more organized than the store itself. The outside parking lot is never picked up and looks like a dump. MAkes me not want to shop there. I've been a customer of the A&P for the past 50 years but am afraid my association with you has come to an end, There are too many high end and customer friendly markets to shop at and I will immediately sever my allegiance to your A&P. It's a sad day for me because I've been loyal for so many years. The produce at this A&P is particularly bad – wilted, slimy and not fresh. I've spoken with tne manager on 3 different occasions but things just don't change. (The managers do but the store and its operation do not!) I'd appreciate acknowledgement of this concern by email.

  • Apparently, A&P is ready to go out of business. I was at the Midland Park store, purchased over $200 worth of groceries, and bagged the entire order myself while 8 employees watched, complained to that 'acting' manager Chris' without any constructive response, called customer service at headquarters which promised a call from the actual manager, Sue the next day [never happened] and appears to not have any response. If the company is in financial distress, they could have elieminated many on the floor in the front that were just standing there when I was there. No one was managing this group, no one responds to compaints, and from what is posted on this page, it is common in other sites. We do have a choice. There is a King's in the next parking lot, a Shopr Right up the street as well as Whole Foods and competent other stores. When employees complain because they were laid off or corporate decided to close a ppor performing store, just play a video of a normal day and let them watch their behavior.

      I'm up early before my scheduled shift at Pathmark as a cashier. I started working for the company late 2012. I must say things are really changing from when I started. Employee moral is somewhat lifted and people are starting to work together.
      We have a ways to go but, finally workers are beginning to grasp the PHENOMENA of exceptional service.
      I have so much experience.I consider myself a customer service expert! I'm going to keep working hard in hope of one day learning more of our SPECIFIC goals,allowing my efforts to be more deliberate.

    I have been a loyal customer with you for more than 15 yrs. Yesterday, You lost a customer for Good! I have Never Ever bounced a check with you or anybody else. Yester in Hanson, Ma. I was paying a check for groceries that I purchased and your system wouldn't take it. REALLY, that wasn't the first time I wrote a check for that amount and hever had a problem before. Well because you changed your computer system and yhour staff couldn't over ride it. I was looked at as if I was doing something wrong. I felt completely Embarrassed and stormed out of there. I called your manager Tony from the parking lot and he was completely useless! I guess being a loyal customer doesn't mean a Damn thing to Shaw's.
    Well, I went to Walmart and literally saved $130 on the same order.
    Shame On You and Your Customer Service. If that is how you run your business, It's DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!

  • I have been a loyal customer of yours maybe for the past 13 years, I used to go to an store that you guys had in Garfield NJ now I was going to the one in Saddle Brook the one in Garfield is no longer open.I went to your store yesterday 08/27/2013 morning to buy weekly stuff. One of the ladies at the register is always kind off upset every time that I have to pay there I noticed she says hello to the people in the front and also the people behind me but not to me, I don't really care about that but what I care is the way she looked at me. put her glasses up and looked at me like she hates me then I kept looking at her expecting her to say anything but she gave me another nasty look . Second time that this happen there to me with the same lady the first time was with my 2 daughters…This time I really did not like it so I asked her If She has a problem and then she started getting loud and saying EXCUSE ME!!!EXCUSE ME!!! like I was her son or Husband I guess…and asking me if I wanted to talk to a manager I said sure… kept getting loud. Another employee saw her actions and started telling her to drop it while she took care of what I was buying, she was like a supervisor and the woman kept loud asking other customers If she did anything to me… Then The manager came over and w/o even saying hi, just what is up??? said to me that he did not see anything and what did I want him to do??? I did not want nobody to get in trouble but actions like that to a customer should be corrected in a minute Guys retail biz has changed a lot in the pass 5 to 10 years If you don't have the right people working for you/// you better close… I do understand some days We have a bad day but the same woman twice…come on I took it a little offensive sorry but that was the way it looked….Well I decided to take my biz some where else…

  • A&P in Lagrangeville, NY has eliminated their fresh olive bar. What a HUGE mistake! And I will no longer waste my time shopping in a store that ignores the requests of its local customers. Many people cook with fresh olives, peppers, bean salads, grains, etc. these days. Mediteranean diets are extremely popular and reflective of our current trends in food choices.

    Months ago, they moved the olives behind the deli counter. Instead of being able to select the olives and peppers that we want, as we shopped, we had to wait on line with all the folks who were getting cold cuts…. It was annoying and often resulted in people just walking away…
    Then, the store stopped selling fresh olives all together. Talk about being 'out-of-touch' with your customers! Every good grocery store has an olive bar. It is a sign of freshness and an indicator of the effort that the store makes, to attract and keep customers who cook with fresh ingedients and enjoy the popular marinated selections. I've asked the managers there about the olive bar but I guess my voice makes little difference to a big corporation. Maybe the loss of my business will make more of a difference. Shop Rite and Stop n Shop have great olive bars.

  • Today I was in the same store in Croton, NY at 9:30 am. The people that work there are rude. I asked an employee a question about the store and she had an attitude like I was bothering her while she was looking at her price gun. The meat department was not organized and I am not sure what time they restock the meats. Definitely not going back any time soon. Shop Rite will be my place to shop from now on.

  • To whom it may concern: My Name is Margaret. I was at the pharmacy at the A&P 2005 Albany Post Rd,croton on Hudson,ny 10520,9142714094. I wrote a check to pay for my perscriptions and my check was declined. I was told the A&P has now outsourced the check processing system. I was supposed to call the company and answer questions. I was not aware of this new system I told the customer service people they should have sent a letter to the bonus savings card people so they would not have to be embarrassed like I was at the counter. I was devastated when the pharmacy dept. told me I couldn't use my check.I called the courtesy desk the next day to find out the procedure of how and what I had to do to be able to use my check. They gave me a number to call. I will do that but the person whose name I didn't get was not very helpful. Also the day July 20,2013 when I tried to pick up my prescription the manager was not helpful at all

    • Went to your store in Hopewell Junction at 9:30 PM clerk rang up 2 items at $5.99 but there was only one item he corrected that before ringing out however he rang up white onions instead of spanish onions. only a $1 a lb difference then I was told I had to come back the next day to get my money back Are you kidding me I live 17 miles from the store a round trip would cost me $4 in gas I made hime give me the difference and told him he could work it out with his boss tomorrow. Then I get home and the item for $5.99 which he rung up twice was not in the bag after 3 long phone calls someone finally answered and yes the prunes were still on his counter now I have to go back just to pick up a $5.99 item and spend $4 in gas to do this so the prunes now will cost me $9.99 And there is no manager in the store or an employee cabable of correcteing miss rung orders Why should the customer be put out of his way for a mistake by an A&P employee… I feel I should get something for my gas Over 1 gallon at about $3.89 a gallon not to mention the 50 min round trip I have to make. I dont exspect any thing from you after reading all the complaints on line Do you really not care about people that shop in your store I am a customer for 37yrs of my marriage and beven before I was married this store is going down hill fast… Very upset
