  • Dear Payless,

I don't know if I will contact someone who can help me. I just want to put a wish out there for the possibility that Payless can look into carrying small women's heel (size 3.5, 4, 4.5). I think it will help the Payless company as there is a big Asian community who has small feet like I do. I just don't think it reasonable to purchase heels online that is hundreds of dollars in addition of not being able to try on the shoes.

    Dear Payless Corporate HQ:

I am writing to commend Ron, the Payless Manager of Rhode Island's Wakefield & Westerly Stores;)

    Ron is an exemplary professional.
He is always courteous, fair and helpful to us, his customers as well as his employees. I've seen/heard him as he trains new employees and while updating current employees on sales, promotions, customer on-line orders that have arrived &/all any store issues.

My sister is getting married this November of 2015. As a bridesmaid, the "Janine" pointed toe black patent leather pump in a 6 Wide is so comfortable directly out of the box. These shoes beautifully complement my bridesmaid dress. For Mom, as Mother of the Bride, we found the beautiful navy suede/navy patent leather "Joyce" pointed toe pump in a 6 1/2 Wide; again, comfortable right out of the box. We searched everywhere, I mean everywhere, for navy shoes to match Mom's dress. These Joyce shoes are absolutely perfect! As a healthy, active, yet conservative 76 yr old, Mom was surprised how the Joyce shoes are BOTH: pretty & comfortable!

My wish is for Payless to provide more Wide Width pretty Women's shoes! I would buy the Joyce shoe ASAP in BLACK suede/BLACK patent leather, but you do not offer them in 6 Wide;(.
Over the years I would have also purchased many Christian Siriano shoes, but I need them in 6 WIDE;(.
Perhaps your "test marketing dept." can prove my two wishes profitable?
I hope there is a good market for these pumps & other shoes/boots in 6 WIDE;). It would be great to have more styles in my size, more choices, more shoes!
For part-time retail work, I find find your young girls' size 3 1/2- 4 Wide Mary Janes (with & without a strap) are very comfortable!

From your corporate HQ, please commend and significantly show your appreciation for Ron and his tangible & professionally "intangible" contributions!

These days, I know it can be very difficult to retain excellent employees, keep them happy & productive and maintain the quality customer service reputation most firms aim to achieve & protect! Sharing my letter as well as sharing your corporate profits (a raise $) with Ron and other managers & sales associates, would certainly prove to be a "win-win".

Just over a decade ago, I had the pleasure of working with one of your very "down to Earth" former HQ Vice Presidents. Since I was 14 yrs old, I have nearly always retained a part-time retail-customer service nights/weekend position;) I've been employed part-time in addition & throughout my full-time career industry positions. That is over 35 yrs of experience. I been taught by the best & have seen some of the worst amongst various industries. However, short & long-term corporate success intricately depends on the success of the "front lines"….. Great Leaders appreciate & compensate great "Front-Liners"!!!

  • I would like to express my dissatisfaction this afternoon, Sunday July 19th at a Payless store I was in today at North Dartmouth Mall location in Dartmouth, MA around 2pm. Upon entering the store with my nine year old sister I was not greeted by anyone. As I was looking for shoes for her, several employees walked by us who did not offer any assistance. As she was trying on shoes we overheard employees loudly talking in the next aisle by the cash register (and children's shoes) about their personal lives. One employee was talking about the type of underwear she was wearing and the color it was and if it was see through and talking about men being able to see it. She also said a customer was wearing purple underwear the other day and making comments about how stupid she was. Another customer on the side of me gave me a look and definitely thought that they were inappropriate conversations, as well as did I. As I was leaving they all just stared at me and did not say good bye or even say to have a nice day. I was disgusted in the customer service I received today and I believe actions should be taken to make sure this doesn't happen again.

  • Do not ever work or shop at payless shoesource in any of the 5 Corpus Christi, TX locations. I've work at 3 out of 5 of those stores and have only been with payless 6 months and I can run the store just like an assistant manager(opening-closing) and I'm only getting paid what a regular associate gets paid. My manager Crystal Campos runs two payless stores (airline and spid off greenwood) and only has one assistant manager (Annabell) so while she's worried about her audit at Airline this past month I was stuck running the Greenwood store by myself cause she needed help from Annabell and had her at airline. This lasted almost 3 weeks and I was the one doing everything and all that I ever got was that everything wasn't good enough and I got in trouble for little things that don't matter (ex. Not having stickers in numerical order in the backroom) I did not get a "thank you" or an "I appreciate you taking care of the store for me" or a "good job" or anything! Long story short.. She (Crystal) changes people's time sheets and she'll add in a 1 hr break for people when they really didn't take one. (Which should be considered illegal and I have a witness) She has her "favorite" Amanda Baseda that she goes out places with and helps her find apartments and etc. Amanda can do whatever she wants cause her and Crystal are BFF's.
We have daily goals that must be met with sales and upt's and both Amanda and Crystal will cover up the censors that count the people coming into the store so they can look good and at the end of the day have a higher conversion. Which is not fair because she is not the only manager I've ever had and we actually had to work hard to make our numbers.
Crystal is NOT A GOOD MANAGER at all.. She will completely mess up schedules and have people at wrong stores and she SHOULD NOT even be manager because recently she got arrested for DWI and has to go to court and everything for it.. Like really Payless? You want someone like this to be representing your company?
She can not spell to save her life and she takes credit for everything the employees do. And on top of it all, I don't know why this chick is even a manager. She is horrible at customer service and is super awkward with customers when she's trying to explain promos it sounds like she reading off of a paper with no expression, all mono-tone and robotic like, and she doesn't even offer socks or jewelry. She's even said it herself that she isn't a sales person and that I'm so good at sales. Like why are you working for Payless if you can't sale? That's what they (area leader; Norma Delapaz and district leader; Ray Martinez) are always pushing for. It is honestly disgusting to me that she's running two stores cause I know both the stores could be run so much better. I've even brought up a couple of complaints to Norma the area leader and she kind of blew me off. I now no longer work for payless as of 3 days ago. And I'm so happy.. I don't ever want to go back and be subject to this ridiculously cheap and poorly ran company. Take your money and job interest elsewhere.

    • I could not agree with you more!! I work in Florida and my manager does the same thing with conversion. He even got called out by our old manager, and he didn't even listen to him. Recently I have had my hours cut severely as well as my coworkers so that he can hire a new staff that he can train his way…. Instead of just having a meeting and telling us the changes. He refuses to listen to any of us which is why me and my coworkers do not get a long with him. Nowadays I have to put my assistant managers name on my new job applications because I know that if I dare to put his name on my applications, he would just sabotage any chance of me getting a job. He is nothing but a bully and only cares about numbers, not being nice to his coworkers and treating us with the respect that we tried to give him before..
