  • I will no longer do on-line orders with Petco. My subscription service item was charged on the wrong credit card. Petco customer service (out sourced) cancelled the order within 15 minutes and reordered on the correct card. I was told a refund would be issued within 48 hours. The order was shipped via UPS and no refund was issued. Petco then told me to refuse the delivery and a refund would be issued within 48 hours. After I did this, Petco told me a 3rd party vendor would have to approve the refund request after the item was received by them. I have initiated a refund dispute against Petco with the card company.

  • I had been taking my Maltese to be groomed @ Petco Arroyo Grande, Ca, ever month for 2 years. The groomers name was Amy & she was very good & followed instructions for grooming to the letter. When Amy had to have surgery, she recommended Sarah for my grooming needs. She too followed instructions for grooming. Then one day I brought in my dog for her annual monthly grooming & was told Sarah was over booked. I told the girl named Sabria that I didn’t want anyone else grooming my dog but Sarah. Sabria assured me Sarah would be grooming my dog, but she would have to wait in a kennel for 2 hours. I said I'll bring her back as I didn’t want her in a kennel for 2 hours bcz they over booked her groomer. I brought Bella back in 2 hours, gave instructions to NOT cut her tail or ears, take extra off her nails & top of feet to the knuckle. To my utter disappointment when I picked her up her tail & ears were chopped off, & her nails hadn’t been trimmed, nor was the top of her feet. I also found out Sabria groomed my dog after I specifically said NO ONE but Sarah. She immediately started talking nasty to me & told me I should find another groomer. WOW. I scheduled my next month appointment w/Sarah, ignoring her smart-ass remarks. When I came the next month, I checked in my dog, w/instructions as usual. When I picked her up AGAIN my instructions where ignored & I found out some guy named Jesse had groomed my dog. I asked for the manager, who informed me my next grooming would be free. I scheduled Bella’s grooming. When I got there, they said my appointment wasn't in their books. HA, I always get an appointment card!! I showed Sabria my appointment card & she said "too bad", they were over booked. I again asked for the manager. My dog got put on the books 2 days later, bcz I wasn’t going to let her sit in a kennel for 3 hours. When I got to her next appointment I waited until Sarah took my dog & started groomer her before I left. When I got back, she was groomed exactly as instructed. I made her next month’s appointment. 4 days before her appointment, Sabria called & said they could no longer groom my dog bcz she was on medication. My dog has NEVER been on medication ever!! I told her this & asked to talk to the manager. I explained to him how rude Sabria was to me & falsley accused my dog of being on medication. He said bring her in & he would straighten out this situation. 2 day later he called & said the groomers were afraid to groom my dog bcz of seizures. WHAT, if my dog was having seizures WHY didn’t any of the groomers tell me? Long story short the groomers who didn’t listen tried to bash my dog by making up medical problems. The manager took their side & requested I have my vet send a "clean bill of health" to continue grooming my dog. I had my vet call the manager (@ my cost) & verify my dog never had seizure’s, has never been on medication, & is healthy to be groomed. He never called me to schedule my dogs grooming as he said he would. I took my dog to CD Pet Emporium for grooming & was told they have over 50 dogs they groom from Petco bcz of poor service, bad grooming and nasty mouth groomers. I will be calling Petco Corporate & filing a complaint!!

  • I live in Lake Geneva, WI and shop at that store for all my cat needs. My son came home from a scout meeting with a tree frog. We know othing about how to take care of a tree frog. When we walked in, we were greeted by Amanda. She welcomed us with a smile and asked of there was anything we needed help with. We showed her our container that had my son's frog in it. She said she will get somebody to help us back in reptiles. She apologized for not being able to help us. She said if she was working in the back of the store she could help but, regretfully, she was in the front of the store working the register and straightening out display in the front. She immediately pages Aaron to meet us back in reptiles. Aaron showed us everything we needed to build our habitat for my son's tree frog. He said Petco doesn't sell tree frogs, but looked it up when he needed more information about what a tree frog would need for heat lamps and explain why it was necessary for the frog to have the UV rays. It was a pleasant experience. He, also, explained how to keep the crickets alive if we were to but a larger amount. He was awesome. Great customer service. Very pleasant employee. I could tell he really cares and loves his career as a PETCO employee. When we had everything we needed, we went to the checkout. Amanda gave us a welcome coupon book for our new frog. She was very friendly and professional. She ended our awesome experience with such enthusiasm. She really made you want to shop at PETCO with her welcoming smile and we left feeling very important being a customer. When we came back for more crickets, Aaron was working and explained to my son how he has a really unique tree frog. He said when he got off work the first day we were there, he looked up for as much information about tree frogs so he could learn all he needed for us when we came back in to get more crickets and more fun things to put in the habitat. He's becoming an expert on our unique tree frog. Amanda and Aaron made such an impression with us, we will NEVER go anywhere else for all of our pet needs. AWESOME employees.

  • On April 7 2018 I took my dog to the Lancaster Pa store to get groomed. This store at one time was a very good place to have your dog groomed. Then one of the mature groomer's left the store. Then there were only young kids doing the grooming. When I came back to get my dog her dewclaw was torn off. The manager of the store followed me to Pet Emergency. If the groomer needs to walk away from the table while grooming put the dog on the floor. If she would not have torn her dewclaw she would have hung herself. You can pick your dog up dead or alive in 2 hours.

    I need to get some information in order for a specific employee to be recognized for going "above and beyond"….. On 10/8/2017, our fish tank began to leak horribly. Since we have fish in the tank, my husband and I were beside ourselves with stress. We ran quickly to the Petco on Route 9 in Englishtown NJ (store#2889). One of the employees who my husband has dealt with on many occasions, saw us and immediately dropped everything he was doing to help us with our time-sensitive issue. Ran…and I mean RAN to get a cart to help us get a new tank and stand, load it and then proceeded to RUN to our car to help us load it. Now, my car is an Altima Coupe (probably not the best to fit what we purchased). Rob (sales associate 11-(who was AWESOME!) was the only calm one out of the three of us and maneuvered what we bought into our tiny space. I cannot tell you how grateful we are for him and his OUTSTANDING service!!!! All of our fish lived! What a wonderful experience and wonderful person!

    My husband spoke to a manager at the store (a few days later) about our experience with Rob but I would like to do something more…..Any help our suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • To who this may concern I have been going to Petco for a long time and on a first-name basis with the employees there I even at one point worked there at the store in Mesa off of Gilbert and University there is a new employee girl named Ciara I was in line waiting to check out today while there were two lanes open Connie an employee that I am well familiar with had taken care of six customers and the time that Syria was taking one customer and continue to chat and giggle with what seemed to be possibly a friend even if it was a customer there was a line of people behind us I walked up to her and asked her if she could please do her job and take care of the customers and stop jaw jacking was the exact words I used I was extremely polite about this she turned to me and told me that she was not a cashier and that there were other people that could help I told her then why don't you Paige somebody else I'm sorry but when you apply for a job you don't just do what you're hired for you do whatever the company needs you to do she continued to turn around and talk to the three young girls that started a an argument with me telling me to f off and leave her alone that they were trying to get information and that I was being rude I stated to them that they could step aside and wait for her to finish taking care of customers before getting her phone number and showing pictures to each other on her cell phone I'm sorry but no employee should talk to a customer in this way and this is not the first time that she sits there and gabs I've been in the store a couple times and had to go to a different line because she likes to chat with her friends that come into the store I spoke to Connie and told her that I would appreciate it if she could tell the management about her behavior Connie relate to me that this is not the first time that she has had problems with her I believe this employee should lose her job I spend hundreds of dollars at your location I have six dogs two cats and many other pets As I Am a foster for homeless pets if you would like to continue my business I would like to see her removed or relocated. It is very disappointing to see young people nowadays not care about their job. Also two customers behind me where a static that I address the situation the even told me that they would no longer return to the store I told him it was shame because normally this location has extremely helpful and polite customer service so not only would you be losing my business but it would seem that you are losing other clientele do to this employee

  • I agree with anonymous above. Inexperienced pet store clerks telling me how to live and how to take care of my animals. Fairbanks, Alaska clerks are the worst, at least today's shift. I walked in to buy my single fish a buddy, and the clerk was bent on selling me a reptile. I am a single (widowed) mother, and my kids are little. We went there to buy one fish. Just one. To go with another one we bought last week. Since they were sold out last week, we came back this week. Anyway, the very young boy who [didnt] helped me, tried to sell me a reptile telling me they were on sale. I told him, "never as long as I am alive". He then proceeded to tell my little kids that they can do whatever they want when they move out of the house. He then started asking me personal questions about my tank, set up, and what fish I have. I said we were getting a buddy for my single fish. He then told me he didn't think I had enough experience with fish and the person who sold me a fish last week did the wrong thing. He then said my tank was too small. So I said, "fine, I will buy another one now." He then said, its too late, we arent selling you a fish. You would have to wait a week to set up the tank then buy your fish. I said, no my fish will go in the current tank til I set up a new one. He said he would need proof I have a big tank set up for a week. Now, keep in mind, I am a 46 year old, and this kid was probably 18. I have owned fish longer than he is alive. He then went to talk to whomever, and turns out, she was also a young person, again, me owning fish successfully and joyfully, longer than she has been alive. I have never been insulted in all my life. Unfortunately, I live in Fairbanks, a small city, and Petco wiped out all the mom and pops, so there is no other fish choice other than Walmart. So my kids and I went to Walmart, and bought 3 fish instead of one, to be buddies. And no, I am not buying a bigger tank until I damn well please.

  • Went to a Petco store in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Was asked by a employee stocking shelves if I needed help finding dog food. I told him I was looking for limited ingredient food due to a food allergy- maybe. He ranted about taking the dog into a vet to do an allergy test and find out what it's allergic to. I informed him that I am doing raw and home-cooked meals with no reactions and all allergies cleared up. He insisted I go to a vet and do a $200 allergy test if I "cared about the health and well being" of my dog, implying that my dog is not taken care of and suffering. ( did I mention that the dog is clear and healthy now?) I had to walk away from him to avoid drama with a young inexperienced pet store stock clerk. So it felt as if he was telling me he couldn't help me pick out a food unless I got an allergy test. He even said if you just get the test, I'm sure we could find something here that your dog can eat", as he pointed to all the dog food. Not even stopping his stocking the shelf as he went on his rant. Isn't a salesperson supposed to sell stuff? Another way to figure out what dog food works is trial and error. He said I was probably spending more money cooking and feeding raw 'human' food and should just go get the dog tested. I'm not worried about the cost! Yes, I spend money for my dog to eat a home cooked meal. That's my choice. I have a lot of experience with animals, and I deal with many veterinarians. I decided, on my own, to buy a small bag of food. I almost walked out without buying anything, but I spend a lot of money here and usually have no problems with the people working here. He was so smug, and had this abrasive not helpful demeanor. He did a disservice to the company, not helpful at all. This young guy had dreadlocks, and ear plug/gauge earrings – nothing wrong with that, just a DESCRIPTION. After reading the previous comments, I too have to wonder if Corporate does anything to deal with their employees and store operations. This post is just to vent. If I go back to the store and deal with this young man again, I will get his name and speak to a store manager.

  • I ordered 8 tubs of litter – tracking showed it as delivered, but it was certainly not to my house – have no idea where delivery was made to. Called customer service number – they are not in the U.S. and all you get is a lot of blah blah blah. Horrible!! Just wanted a refund – will not order from Petco ever again. I am shocked at all the negative comments here…the head honchos must be sleeping in the board room to allow all this nonsense to continue. For those that order online, is the most wonderful company out there- their customer service is second to none.

  • I would like to lodge a complaint about a groomer in charlotte, nc arboretum shopping center. Her named is Kate Kistner, and not only was she rude to me, she was rude and distasteful to a call she answered in the middle of the check in. She overcharged me big time, and did not explain the pricing. DO NOT go to Kate Kistner!

  • Yesterday (12/12/16) I took my Maltese to Petco for grooming. Not only it lasted 4 hours (and if I didn't call and complain it would have lasted longer) but my dog's right eye is now bloody, swollen and crooked. He keeps licking his paw and taking it to his effected eye. My dog is 8.5 years old and I have never experience anything like this or had to wait 4 hours. The reason I took him to Petco and not to his usual place because I thought big companies will have better trained employees and thought to give it a try even if it was more expensive. I'm so heart broken and every time I look at him I can't stop crying and feeling guilty. I'm going to take him to his vet to see how bad his eye is. I will never ever take my dog there and will make sure the people I know not to eather.

  • I have a rather different experience with Petco as most of the other commenters. I was very happy with our local store (Kyle, TX). In fact my daughter worked there and loved her job. HOWEVER…she and most of her co-workers have now lost their jobs due to their managers actions. The managers showed the employees how to ring up sales using multiple coupons giving huge discounts to many customers and other employees. They were told that it was "perfectly acceptable" to do so. Now corporate has caught wind and the managers are of course denying their part. My daughter was accused of stealing from the company and not given a chance to explain anything. She is in tears and so upset because she loved that job and would never have done that if she had not been told that it was ok to do. She is the most honest person I have ever met. I will never shop at ANY Petco, EVER AGAIN. They are horrible people. Period.

  • Today while watching TV, a horrific add came on which a child was violently shaking a Christmas gift, asking his father if it was a guinna pig in the box. The mother said, " I hope the Guina pig is not in there!"The package is finally opened, and a gift card was inside. The child screams with glee "guinna pig!" Is this the kind of cruelty your company encourages, shaking a small animal to death?? I know it turns out to be a gift card, but I would NEVER give a child an animal of ANY kind with that kind of behavior. What kind of company are you to encourage animal abuse, which later in adulthood show itself as abuse of other humans? I think you need to rethink that ad.

  • I went to the Petco in Cookeville, TN. The Hillis pet food company had coupons that if you buy their pet food, you get a free bag of Science Diet to try. I witnessed two of the employees remove all of the coupons from the bags and throw them away. When I asked why they did that, I was told it was because customers were taking advantage of the coupon and either removing multiple coupons, or getting multiple bags for free, so they were not going to allow any customers to take advantage of the promotion. The coupon states "Limit one coupon per purchase per day on product indicated". It is your employees responsibility to follow what the coupon states and not allow customers to take more than allowed. By removing those coupons, it is a disservice to your customers that want to use the coupon, and to the Hillis Pet Food Company for not allowing customers to use the promotion they have put into place.

    I did call the hotline to complain, but I doubt it did any good.

    • Petco lost me as a long time customer a couple of months ago.
      If you check the price online for an item don't expect to be able to purchase that exact same item for that price in the store. Example: Advantage II 6 pack for cats online price was $54.88 with free shipping. The in store price was $79.99! The very rude saleslady (lady?) would NOT honor the online price. She did not want to hear about it. Since I had just discovered that my cats had fleas and needed to be treated I paid the price. I should have gone somewhere else to purchase my Advantage II. But, petco is loosing in the long run with me. I will never ever set foot in any petco store again. bye bye petco

  • The Leominster, Ma store needs new management. They are always out of products, even though supplies come in twice a week. The attitude of the employees is disgusting. Like they are doing you a favor. The ones who work in the fish/reptile area fake they are busy writing something down so they don't have to get crickets. Fire the whole bunch from the manager down. This store isn't worth my time or money for over priced items anyway. Go to Walmart, hay and pine bedding is half the price. SMH

  • Claim Reference #7082072. I bought a $100 gift card in April at a Petco in CT. It was a Mother's Day gift but when she went to use it at a different Petco, it had a $0 balance on it. I brought the card into the original store, the manager tried to investigate for 2 weeks then went out on maternity leave. Simultaneously, I called the gift card hotline and went back to the store. Someone from customer service left me a message saying I have to go back to the store I bought it from (I think she was thinking I bought it from somewhere other than Petco). Anyway….I discussed this with the store manager and he said he was basically at the mercy of customer service. I called customer service again and was told no supervisor was available; they took a callback for 24-48 hours. So….where am I with all of this?…..Nowhere !!! I'm out $100 and keep getting the Petco runaround. This has been going on for 3 weeks!! I'm not ready to eat $100 just yet, not should I have to. HELP !!!!

  • San Diego store, clairemont square. Been taking my lab (retired service dog=yes, a real, certified service dog) there for grooming. Had an appointment. Was told when I arrived that they were unable to groom her because she was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma several months ago. She is doing great with NO, I repeat NO symptons….She has been there several times since the original diagnosis and was groomed. She is extremely well behaved. Better than most dogs I've seen while there. Seriously, they would have no pets to groom with this policy. So disappointed with this policy

  • Petco Versailles KY poorly takes care of their fish. People are reporting buying fish that are "contaminated" and don't know this until their entire aquarium is wiped out because of the fish that was purchased from this store. The store was notified and home office but yet the tanks are still dirty.

  • I'm extremely upset that Petco like Verizon sold out to Frontier and they have farmed out the call center to the Philippians. These people can hardly speak English let alone help. Frontier is losing customers because of this. Americans need jobs and I was on the phone three times to your call center just to have the email changed. SHAME ON YOUR COMPANY!! MAKING MONEY OFF AMERICAN YET USING FOREIGN HELP!

  • Today i went to the Torrington, Ct Petco groomers. Just for a nail cut. On my dog and cat. I have been taking my cat to petco for 11 years. My dog 3 years.
    They are expensive, very unprofessional, Abd as of today it was my last visit there EVER.
    So the chubby groomer asks is that a cat, i reply yes, she says to me and my bf we don't do cats on the weekend.
    Wow and damn my cat has been going there 11 years. Never a problem, today they tell me no cats allowed.
    So I ask for a manager, the grooming supervisor was not there so , she pages the store, Manager.
    I explain how i was just told no cats on weekends, the stupid manager twlls me. That so the animals don't get frightened no cats on weekends. I turn around and asked her"whats the difference between the weekday pets and weekend pets"? Now she changes her story, and says you need an appointment, really.? In 11 years I never needed one, now I need one.?
    We left without having the nails cut on either pet, lesson learned… I WILL NEVER TAKE MY PETS THERE EVER. AND STOP SHOPPING THERE ALSO, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

  • Recent visits to the Petco at 1650 E Cheyenne Mountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80906 have left me speechless! I have heard management degrade and threaten associates! I have always shopped in this store and had excellent help from the associates. I have encountered new management recently who are very unprofessional and abusive. I hate to shop elsewhere but cannot abide with this type of behavior. I hope you will look into this issue and make training available to your management team before your store suffers from loss of business.

  • Hello Mr. Jim Myers I am writing this email am a customer of one of its stores in Puerto Rico I like their products I enjoy going with my dog and the treatment of its employees is excellent. A few days ago buy on your online store and was the worst desicion I never did my product arrived I did not appear on anything in the Tracking Number let spend some time and send an email to know the article I suggest that the article was sent. Then I receive another email that the item is not be shipped to Puerto Rico and I will return the money. The trouble of this purchase is that I do accept online payment and then not met me with what appears on the page and is so easy to solve the refund my money . I trusted what you are selling me on your online page and then do not meet me.The least I expect is to pay for the product become as resolved by returning the money and I get my products thank you very much for your attention because it is a very busy person but is a client of his tends asking a fair deal

  • Research very carefully any PetCo Store you decide to put your trust into because this company is a corporation. Meaning only numbers matters and
    not your connection or your pets connections. (Any one can write or say whatever to try and make you believe advertising. It’s up to you to research)

    You’ll realize these employees have no degrees. Sure some are knowledgeable in the products being sold, but that’s all. However, you might receive recommendations without even examining your pet because after all they have a veterinarian degree. You may be a member for years with no issues, but one wrong situation will cost you not to bring your pet any more according to the store manager. Remember, they have your pets well being looked after and are very willing to work it through and their degree and experience proofs that. (Try it out because research is your pure proof)

    Save your money, efforts, and useless conversations not to trouble yourself with this company. There are high quality, less expensive pet stores (not commercialized) that truly cater to you and your pet. It’s evident with every honest matter around you when you walk through the door. Indulge that with others because you’re a walking advertisement that reaches far more than false advertisement. Your pet depends on you and senses false advertisement before you realize.


    • PETA has now uncovered horrors at SIX animal dealers that supply stores like Petco. How can you justify continuing to sell live animals?
    • Animal sales are a tiny percentage of your revenue but deter thousands of caring customers. Why not ban all animal sales and partner with shelters to adopt out small animals?
    • Until animal sales are banned, I will buy all my pet supplies from stores like Target and Walgreens

  • San Dimas store… I have never had such poor,judgmental customer service in my life. Moving to San Dimas from La Puente 3 months ago.I'm so sick to my stomach. I did not ever think for a second I would get discriminated by anyone. I returned a item yesterday morning with a receipt. the cashier asked if I used the product. I answered, NO. I then was asked for my I.D as I passed off my I.D card I asked, I have a receipt why do I have to show my I.D… the cashier says as she hands me a slip to fill out my name and address " it's store policy, since this world has lairs that do returns we have to hold them accountable. I could not believe that she seriously just said that to me. I called the number on the back of the receipt, the young man that I spoke with never called me back after he gave me his word that he would. words can't describe the way that the cashier and young man made me feel..

  • Apparently I'm not the only person who is ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATED with PETCO. Horrible, horrible customer service. Should be renamed "customer abuse." Did a repeat delivery back in November, 2015. No problem at all. All items came. Tried to reorder about 2 weeks ago. Wasn't able to do the order. Petco kept saying there was a problem with the credit card on file. Then Petco insisted the address associated with the credit card didn't match. I've only been in my house 28 years. Tried another credit card. Petco still had a problem with the 2nd card. Talked to 2 agents, 2 supervisors, and no one could figure out what the problem was. I got loud with the last person that called. Told Petco to cancel all of my orders. I went to Petsmart and bought the items today. Funny, Petsmart didn't have any problem with my credit card. Petco, you have lost a customer. And, I'll be glad to spread the word about your "so called" customer serviced.

  • Petco has the slowest customer service I have ever had to Deal with.
    Not only that training seem to not exist. Getting an Invoice is very difficult at best. Most companies I can get an invoice in a matter of a few minutes. I will never place another with you again Very Disappointed!!!!

  • Petco is the worst for customer service!!! I ordered an item on-line that state it would be delivered in 2-5 days. Now when I finally get someone on the phone, (not in this country) they say at least another 15 days before shipping and its too late to cancel the order!! They sure took my money quick but I can't even cancel before it ships????? And when you call corporate, its the same customer service in the Phillipines who can't do anything. This is a true scam. I will not be shopping or recommending them. I will pay more for dog food and grooming just to boycot!! I hope they go out of business soon!

  • ZERO customer service. Needed to make sure my next repeat order batch of cat food came from a different batch than the stamp date of "best if used by 12-sept-18", as my cat refused to eat food from this batch. Aside from having to return this online order to a local store, I was not able to locate food ANYWHERE from a different batch, that my cat would eat. I contacted Petco online 'chat' rep..1st one tried to tell me to 'pause my order until sept 18' (what is my cat supposed to eat from Jan. til next Sept? DUH. Waited til shift change, and tried to contact another rep. This one simply told me to 'return the case my cat wouldn't eat." I am ASKING FOR A CASE TO BE DELIVERED W/ A DIFFERENT 'best by' DATE. WHAT IN GOD'S NAME IS SO FREAKING DIFFICULT about this??? I am left slapping my head.

  • Placed an order over 22 days ago and still have an item outstanding. Call CS and they were polite but had no information. After my experience and reading all the experiences above, I guess PETCO will go the same way as thousands of other corporation and slip into oblivion. I don't recommend PETCO for anything other than aggravation.

  • Wanted to leave a rave to the groomer Jessica at the Petco in Oceanside, CA. She is the only groomer that I will let cut my Westie's nails. She knows what she is doing and always does an excellent job. I call to make sure she is there before we go. My dog is quite terrible when it comes to getting his nails trimmed, but she always does a great, quick job. I would recommend her to anyone! Thanks PETCO for having such a talented employee!!

  • PETCO supports Animal Abuse. We are a 501c3 rescue team who witnessed a animal abuse right in front of their store in Clarksville TN. We was partnered with Petco to hold adoption event with this store. On National adoption weekend Nov. 12-14 2015 several people witnessed that 3 ladies, who could NOT control , their large Collie mix keep hitting this dog on the head. I couldn't stand by and allow it to happen again and open my mouth to correct this person. She than cursed me right away out in a very bad language and I do NOT have this. As a Rescue group, we are here for this babies and witness abuse. We step in and up for this FUR babies. 30 min. later 2 of the workers came out to me ( I'm the CEO of our rescue team) and told me that I was NOT welcome on their premises and had to leave. I than ask them were is the Store Manager? reply: She is busy and can NOT deal with me. REALLY??? The following Monday I informed the Corperate of PETCO with this incident and this I got back from them :
    We regret to inform you that we can no longer continue our partnership with your adoption group.

    As of November 18, 2015, you will no longer be eligible to partner with Petco for your adoptions for the following reason:

    · You organization does not align with Petco’s standards for partnership

    Please contact me if you would like to discuss this decision in greater detail.

    Our inability to continue our partnership with your adoption group in no way diminishes the important work you do for animals or implies anything but respect for your hard work.

  • Why are you promoting live small animal sales for children for the Holidays? Why such irresponsibility towards animal lives promoting the impulse buy? Pet rescues are filled to capacity because people buy animals at pet stores and then when the thrill is up (usually a few weeks later) they are dumped. SHAME ON PETCO for promoting what rescues are working so hard to correct.

  • I rescued a baby bearded dragon lastnight because it's t oo young to be sold and malnurished, unfortunately even though the staff agreed that this dragons health was bad I had to pay for it all, and the little guy is worse today, it doesn't look like it's going to make it. There were 2 others In very bad condition as well. They don't get fed properly, housed properly, this baby has compaction, tilted head, not even strong enough to walk. But hey, they can make a buck still so that's all that natters. I'm trying my hardest to save this baby, petco, don't sell animals you don't know how to properly take care of. It's disgusting.

  • I just spent 15 minutes in an on-line chat with Faith and the word "frustrating" does not begin to tell the story. After my rescue could no longer eat a certain brand I been going to PetCo exclusively. They seem to have discontinued a promo where you bought 10? bags of food and received a free one; well that disappeared. The representative today could not tell me what the new program is and why I haven't received the four $5 off coupons I'm entitled to. After going around and around and her not addressing my questions, I asked for a manager – none came on line. I'm DONE with PETCO. There's a store in my hometown that carries the dogfood and since I'm not getting my rewards why should I drive 3 towns over. After reading all these comments and seeing the lawsuits they've been involved in I'm sorry I didn't leave sooner.

  • Well, I had enrolled in the repeat dog food delivery….What a nightmare! Needless to say I have cancelled that program all together.

    First, I sign up after checking to make sure the Blue Buffalo is on the program and I an assured it is. Not five minutes later I was sent an email telling me my account was cancelled because it was not. Then I received another email . Oops, sorry we made a mistake!

    Second, we cannot process your order your card was denied. I called my Bank and the problem was on Petco's end the electronic strip was scratched.

    Thirdly, I was at the store and the wonderful staff was trying to communicate with the call center locate in the Philippines and they jerked their own staff around. So, if you call the 800 number you are calling the Philippines. Do yourself a favor and asked to be transferred to the US Reps.

    Then, this is the clincher, my card was denied again for the same reason only this time I called Petco Headquarters located in San Diego, CA, you guessed it the receptionist did not know how to connect me to James Myers the CEO of the company. So, I was given to the escalation department.
    Finally, today was the final straw, I return home and my son advised me we received two big boxes. I was wondering what they could possible be? The suspense was killing me for I have placed an online order with Macy's and said no way. I was correct PETCO sent not ONE but TWO 25 pound bags of the same dog food for ONE dog. PETCO received this call, I am finished with your repeat delivery it stinks, your people cannot take a simple order and deliver it properly. I am no longer interested in your service. Do not care about you double points because of your errors and will NEVER suggest this service to anyone else.

    In conclusion, I AM DONE WITH THE REPEAT DELIVERY SERVICE!!!! I am now on the hunt to find my pets food at another distributor. Wish me luck.

    • I am (sadly) laughing/crying reading your I have experienced the very same issues, right down to the 'cancel'…oops 'mistake' reorder of repeat orders. This company is a disaster, and i have no doubt my cat could do a better job of running the joint. I, too, am on the hunt for another source of food for my baby.

    I wanted to write about the absolute WORST experience I have ever had in any pet or PETCO store.
    I dropped my dog off at the SANTA MONICA petco on Wilshire and Yale for a bath and grooming. I do not live in Santa Monica or even close to there but as we were visiting friends it was convenient, on reflection not so much.
    The bath and grooming seemed fine until we got her home and noticed her itching. Yep, she had been given FLEAS.
    No FLEAS when she went in but FLEAS when she came out.
    I called the manager to see what he could do about this and (after telling me that I could not prove the store is where she got the FLEAS, which would be a fair point except she has had no interaction with any dogs since she was at the store and no fleas before she went in the store) he said bring her back in and I will give her a free flea bath.
    So I explained we do not live in the area and ontop of the inconvenience of now having to wash everything we own, I do not want to drive across LA on a weekend then have to wait and hour while you give her a flea bath. Not to mention the serious discomfort that my dog is now in.
    So I asked if they can credit my account so I can go to a store closer to me? After all they have my Petco number and my credit card.
    This is his answer.
    No. We would need her to come to this store.
    No. We cannot refund your credit card without you coming into the store.
    No. We cannot give you credit to another Petco closer to you.
    If you have a problem then call back tomorrow and talk to the manager.
    I asked the managers name and he gave it to me. I asked his name and he refused to give it. KEVIN.
    They also forgot to put her collar back on after grooming her so now she has no collar or tags.

    The manager KEVIN suggested I just come to the store next time I am there and he will take care of me. However he could not write anything on my account, credit my account or give me any kind of assurance that he would take care of it.
    I sure hope he is working next time I go in there or there will be no what what so ever to prove this.

    So just to summarize: I payed $40 dollars for grooming, that gave her fleas, lost her collar and tags and the only thing that they can offer me (unless I drive across town and go into the store) is a verbal assurance from the manager KEVIN, who wouldnt give me his last name, that I will be taken care of.



    This is a totally unacceptable situation from a nationwide chain.

    One bright point, the grooming manager IVAN was very nice.

  • I am a 15 year volunteer with Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue in Hudson, Ma. (YGRR.ORG). Their calendar is their biggest fundraiser and Petco has sold it in their stores in Mass. for years. This year (2015) they REFUSED to sell the calendar, stating that "they did not want to help out a non-profit this way". Beginning today, I WILL NO LONGER SHOP at Petco and neither will my friends and family. The word is out that Petco WILL NOT HELP non-profits. Petco can GO TO HELL !!


  • I visited the Petco in Glen Carbon, IL and was very disturbed as I witnessed a groomer being less than kind to a dog. I gave her a glare as I walked past, and she knew she was "busted" for unbecoming behavior.
    I have heard of and seen with my own eyes dogs being mistreated and cruelly smacked around by the groomers and I refuse to take my dog there because of it. I am hoping corporate will take action and see to it the unprofessional employees are dealt with accordingly. Let me add, that the only reason I give Petco my business is they are the only ones who carry my brand of dog food.

  • Lol the customer service line only hires people with accents. I called six different times and every single representative had an accent. Petco customer service is poor. They sincerely do not care about their customers… what a a lost cause they just lost a customer.

  • Petco customer service does not provide customer service. Everything is I'm sorry for the inconvenient coming from every representatives mouth and so resolution. A huge dog jumped on me while I was holding my infant and sorry for the inconvenient is all being said. The general manager lied and told customer service that he had called me three times leaving me a message which never happened. Petco hires insensitive liars to represent them and its a shame.

    I ordered a kennel online 5/26, was billed that day then received an email 5/28 saying it could not be shipped and was on backorder. They stated they did not know when it would be available but I could call and cancel and get a refund. NOT TRUE
    I called 5/29 and was given the run around, told I couldn't cancel and then that order was canceled. Was refused the opportunity to speak to a supervisor.
    Today I received email posted 9:34 pm on 5/29 that order was shipped. I called again for another round of lies. I feel sure I will never see the kennel or my money but am filing formal complaints with Better Business Bureau today.

  • Dog lovers, dog owners, dog people. Get this. They think they can do whatever they want and its ok. They get away with it. They know ut too.
    They do not careabout their customers even for the first or last time. They make excuses that are so lame why they can't help you. When they know they have the .
    power to do so.

    I swore 5years ago when I got burnt the first time from them 5 years ago I would never be back. I decided to give them onemore chance and they still screwed up and now I am done.

    The management don't care, the corp office don't care. Then why should I givemy money. The customer service stinks. And every time I see them ata dog show. Every one will know and embarrasment will be heavy when I an done with them..

    This seems to be pattern with them down here. Because apparentlt I am not the only one getting screwed.

  • Customer Service is abominable!! Representatives apparently do not understand English and simple requests. Outsource much? Talking to them is tedious and beyond frustrating. The more they talk, the more confusing the issue gets. Please FIX THIS by finding employees that know and understand English.

    • Had the same experience..either she only understands Chinese, or she thought I was speaking Chinese. After 45" of going round and round, she came back, and asked how she could help me. (think she had me confused w/ a different customers issues?) Hung up slapping my head, with NO resolution to my issue.

  • I have read all of these comments. After spending 16 years as a Petco manager I can say most of these comments are from angry ex employees. I never knew anything but care and concern for the customer from upper management. And I knew most if them. The comments do not reflect the company I worked for

I can see , one thing your company does not really care for their customers, two, it show in your store managers, follows down to your employees, which goes to your customers and then over all profits. The end result, poeple talk, you lost customers, store's start closing, and its is then too late.

  • There stores nevet have what you are looking for. The products your company carries cannot even be found in any of your stores. Bought a bone for my dog and when I opened it, it had mold.   • Petco Dc 198 is a joke. Managemens mistreats it's empoyee's by harassing them, yells at them and talks about employee's personal business to other employees. Management has safety meetings but do nothing to keep the warehouse safe because they are too busy hiding in their offices; talking or texting on their phones, take 2 hour lunches off the premises. They are prejudice against Americans and are treated like a piece of dirt.     Specifficly how well some things go well together. "like Bonnie goes with Clyde"
    Bonnie and Clyde were murderers, Killers of innocent people. (circa 1967) they robed banks and tortured law enforcement officers. Clyde was known to kill people and destroy property with a modified B.A.R. (a Browning Automatic Rifle) a machine gun. they were killers (terrorists)
    PetCo Company now has these Bankrobbers as a reference to their Company. This Ad needs to be pulled immediatly. The Managing Director of Advertising needs to be terminated. A public apologie to the people whom are the surviors of the slain, needs to go out on a nation wide broadcast today! Can you spell C-H-E-C-K Y-O-U-R F-A-C-T-S before you broadcast.

    • I saw the same commercial and was truly horrified. How Petco, or any organization could come up with such a horrible reference is beyond the pale. Shame, shame on you Petco!!

  • We took the four dogs into our local Petco today (3065 California Ave, Signal Hill, CA). We normally have no problems as we always request the same groomer and she does well with our dogs. We had to get a different person than normal to clip their nails (all dogs) and groom one of them (my dog) as Ashley our normal groomer was out on maternity leave. We had an appointment for the four dogs at 11am. After we had finished filling out the needed paperwork discussing exactly what needed to be done for each dog they took my dog Mayo back to be groomed. Then they took a second one of our dogs, Obi, to have his nails clipped. She put an extra leash around his neck that would choke him if pulled (despite the already present harness and leash). Next she slipped two of the restraining collars around his neck. She then walked away from the dog while Obi struggled to get out of the restraining collars. When she could not manage to clip his nails alone (as only an assistant groomer) she called a second groomer into the room.
    They man-handled the dog squeezing him around the middle. One was pushing his head down and covering his eyes while the other was trying to grab his hind legs pulling them back. It took them almost twenty minutes to cut his nails. When he came back we noticed a bite mark on his tongue right at his front tooth from their pushing down on his head.
    The second dog, again about 20 pounds, was dragged into the grooming area when he didn't want to go. He had the two "groomers" manhandling him in much the same manner as the first. It took even longer with this dog to get his nails trimmed. The third dog an older dog with hip issues, approximately 10 lbs and 12 years old, has the “groomers” picking up her hind legs and pulling back to clip her nails.

    We had to leave Mayo there for an additional two and a half hours for grooming even though we had a scheduled an 11 o’clock appointment. The groomer informed us she was going to lunch before starting the work leaving a previously abandon and abused dog in a cage for an additional hour (while we were waiting) plus half an hour (or hour not sure) while she went to lunch.
    We called to complain to the manager around 12:30 as the three dogs were greatly upset. The manager said he would view the tape, talk to the groomers, and call us back
    When I picked Mayo up at 2pm they did not mark that it had already been paid for. I showed them the receipt. When he came out he was cut unevenly, crying, and had a hot dry nose and tongue. He was so upset we could not get his harness back on him.
    AT 3:30pm we called to talk to the manager again. We had to wait as he was on lunch. When he did come to the phone (approximately 15 minutes later) he said the dogs weren't manhandled. He went on to say that the dogs had water and that they checked them. He implied it was not his issue if the dog did not drink due to being stressed out even thought they were the ones causing the stress. He said that if we thought that they caused obi to bite his tongue we would need to go to the vet. The vet would have to say that the grooming cause obi’s injury before they might be able to do something. He said that I said the dog looked good. I said he looked cute which I tell him pretty much anytime he's crying and upset. In addition, Mayo went from the groomers’ hand who brought it out to me (not either of the groomers that worked on the dog) to mine. Then he went to my husband’s when they tried to say I didn’t pay. I was not able to set him down as he was too upset for his harness and I didn’t want anything to happen to him without it.
    I am extremely unhappy with not only the treatment of the animals entrusted to their care but also the incompetence and argumentative nature of the management.

    • Geesch, what is wrong with you? After witnessing the initial mis-treatment of your dogs, (choking, squeezing, pushing head down, covering eyes, pulling hind legs)why in the world would you leave your precious pets with these uncaring people. You got what you asked for, the dogs did not. They deserve new owners and new groomers. Get a pet rock.

  • I purchased a gift card online several months ago, Anyways it clearly states on the card it can be used online which is partially why I bought it because you are not convenient to where I live.It would not give me the balance or allow me to use it online. I called and was basically told by the representative too bad, that it was a merchandise card and kept telling me it couldn't be used online, when it clearly states it can be directly on the card. I demanded a manager. She also would not help me and kept demanding to know where I got the card. I couldn't remember the gift site domain I bought it from, but it was just a normal giftcard website and I used it in store a couple months ago so I know it works and I only used about $12, so I knew I had at least enough to cover my online order. I kept asking for them to just take my order over the phone then. I think I was pretty patient after being on hold and basically treated like my business was highly unimportant. In the end, no one helped me and considering I can go down the street for the same dog food at a much cheaper price I don't think I will be shopping with petco anymore. I'm insulted by your associates, they acted as if the card was stolen or I was trying to hide something. If thats how you treat a customer of 15+ years then consider my business gone. I know some might think who cares it's just one person, but you would be surprised how much of an impact one person can make.

  • I have recently visited several of your locations – the most recent being on La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, CA and, must say, I am completely dissatisfied. The store is never well enough staffed, which, to me, personally, is an enormous concern. I have several dogs and work in wholesale and retail, so am aware of the challenges and obstacles each facet of life present, however, as a patron, I can assure you, those presented by your company do naught to help me in my daily endeavors. The staff, at this location, is phenomenal. Unfortunately, which I am sure is due to bottom dollar costs, they are few and far between.

  • My first experience with online ordering was DISAPPOINTMENT! I ordered a cat tree on sale for 114.00 free I waited for it I tracked my UPS # seen it was delivered in FTW ..Im in Mansfield, TX..and was refused then return to sender! I contacted PETCO right away…they did nothing to help but tell me once they get it back, they will refund m money. I want this item , so then Im told it can be reordered but its not on sale however they would give me 25% off which made my item still $20 more plus my money is tied up still with original order! I had to talk to ppl in Philipines as well whom said they were corp! Ya right! I know it was UPS FAULT but Petco don't help with it either..Im very frustrated right now, Due to weather conditions system down too??? I did contact UPS too. They at least will have someone contact me on it!..
    PETCO you need to post your warehouse # so customers can call with issues! Not Philipines

  • I should have realized when I called customer support that it was offshore, and scripted. I placed an order in January, In about a week I checked on it as I had not received notification of it shipping. I saw tracking numbers, but only one of them actually showed that part of my shipment had gone out. So I called Customer Service and was told that K9 Advantix was out of stock, and offered a refund. I refused the refund because the reason I ordered it online in the first place was because Petco offered free shipping and 30% off, which is a huge savings for this item.

    When I told them that I saw the product in stock at the local store, and requested a voucher to go to the store an pick it up their, they said that they couldn't do that. To me this is a joke, if they have it at the store than I'm pretty sure they have it instock at the warehouse.

    Based on how I was treated, I'm taking my business to PetSmart, or one of the smaller competitors. Oh, yeah and Im telling all my friends.

  • Last Saturday. December 7, 2013 I took my dog to Petco where innoculations were being provided by a vendor-Luv My Pet. While on line another talk attacked and bit my dog on the nose. The staff from Luv My Pet were wonderful! But the Manager of the store, Barbara, was HORRIBLE. She was MORE concerned with a public relations project going on, than MY BLEEDING DOG! Is that CARE? Is this following the so-called benevolent animal-friendly POLICIES of Petco??!!!! She was smug, unconcerned and the regional manager David offered no help….I also contacted CORPORATE and after one week, there is STILL NO RESPONSE!!!!!!! I will NEVER shop in Petco again and return to PETSMART where I ALWAYS AM WELCOMED and there are BETTER, More PROFESSIONAL, and MORE CARING people!

  • I just started a volunteer job with the local Humane Society who unfortunately has animals in kennels up for adoption at a Petco store. It NEVER fails! Almost every time I walk in there to start my shift, the manager has something negative to say to me about how I'm doing my volunteer work. And he ALWAYS blames it on corporate who happen to visit the store. How does corporate feel about hiring managers covered in tats (I'm just saying!)? I play and treat these animals as if they were my own. I'm giving them love, playing with them, don't yell, smack or mistreat treat them. I've been an animal parent since 1981, so I think by now I would know how to take care of a pet! I'm not working for Petco, actually it's a non paying labor of love service I thought I was providing. I shouldn't have to end a tour and come home to my pet in tears.

  • pffft….PETCO… that has become a bad word at my house. i tolerated petco at one location. but then i found one that was closer to my home. i went there just a couple days ago. OH MY GOD!!! it was small. it had at least 4 employeees there and at the time, i was the only customer. BUTT…. i could not get any one to help me… but one..and only for a minute. i told them when i walked in that i had not been to this store before. one guy i say, i asked him where the dog food was. he took me to it , handed me a couple cans and started to leave. i grabbed me about 20 more cans while he stood there and watched and did nothing to help. oh yeah.. i do walk with a cane and could have used the help badly. then i asked where the treats were, ;he mumbled something and walked off. i never saw him again. on the way to look for the treats for my dog, i saw the ramp for them. i needed one of them. so i looked for some help… not too far way since the place was very small. so i hollered … could iget some help back here please?! no one… nota single soul came around. i tried to get the info off the box about the ramp. the box was fairly big. i tried really hard for myself. couldnt do it. so i hollered again… could i get some help back here please. NO ONE. NOT A SINGLE SOUL AGAIN! now im preturbed!! so i go walking to the front of the store… only to find the cashier..who turns out to be the manager…. and 2 guys up front. they are standing around making jokes and laughing…while myself….the only customer in the store, is askign for some help. so i told her..there y'all are. wow i was hollering for some help and THIS is what y'all are doing instead? well guess what PETCO…. you lost the 180 dollar sale on the ramps and i wont be back and i WILL tell others all about the horrible experience at this store in decatur, GA. so go ahead, send all the work overseas. they cant even speak our language over there and have no clue what to tell anyone when they call. go yourself out of business. i see lots of people will help you out! your store was horrible!!! and i can tell… there wont be a reply to this one either will there? NO ONE AT PETCO from the top down… CARES!!!!! BUBYE PETCO!!!

  • A friend gave me a $25 gift card for Petco. So, for the first time ever, I purchased Purina brand cat chow from your Nashville-West store in Nashville, TN. It will also be the last time ever. To say that I am EXCESSIVELY disappointed with the condition of the product would be an ENORMOUS understatement.

    I bought 3 bags (7 lbs. ea.) last week. It struck me curious that there were moths flying in and around the food shelves. When I started opening the bags (2 of the 3 so far), I was a little more enlightened as to why moths were present in that part of your store. Both bags had larvae in the glue area of the packaging as well as in the food itself.

    I went to target (where the same food is around a dollar cheaper AND larvae-free) and bought a bag to feed my cats. The third bag I purchased from your company remains unopened. When I feel that I can open it without gagging (to see if it is also infested), I will do so. Though, I am confident it too will be yet another full bag of food to wind-up in the trash.

    The $25 gift card has been thoroughly wasted. My first and lasting impression of Petco is that your company has a HUGE disregard for cleanliness and safety of pet food (let alone reasonable pricing [as stated above: same product is a dollar cheaper elsewhere]). For those reasons, I plan to NEVER visit a Petco store again . . . just thought you people should know for your (lack of) quality control purposes.

  • The problem with inconsistency and poor customer service has to do with hiring as cheaply as possible, without investing to train or adequately supervise their employees. So few employees are actually knowledgeable about pet products, those who are often have little incentive to stay and/or burn out. As long as they show a profit why should they invest in changing their system? Sadly, everyone (customers and employees) could benefit from an overhaul of the way they conduct business….

  • Petco's customer service is terrible. I ordered an electronic dog collar trainer (shock collar) online. I received an email with a bad UPS tracking number. I contacted Petco and that said that they would investigate and then contact me back to let me know what had happened and when I can expect delivery. NO SUCH CONTACT OCCURED! I emailed them the situation and they sent me back an emai stating the same scenario, to check warehouse and wait for an answer. Again, no further contact made to me by Petco.

    • I see getting bad tracking numbers is nothing new. I made an order with Petco recently online. I was given a tracking number….UPS said it was for someone in Chicago…..I live in California. When I called Petco to straighten this out I was asked if I called UPS. Yes I did I told the rep I was told it was a wrong tracking number. Instead of them working with me she CANCELED my entire order and said she was having the package returned to them. I live in a small town and the nearest store is an hour away. I also sent at least 3 or 4 emails to Petco about my order and not a one was met with a response!!!!

  • Personally I will never step into a petco again. The treatment of the animals is horrible. I have always gone to petco for dog food, cat food and supplies. I decided to get into fishes again. I got a big tank, and off to petco for some fishes. Visit one. I ask for some Cory Cats and the caveman that they hired killed about two fishes while he was trying to catch them. He even put one of the injured fishes into my bag because it was now easy to catch and then got angry with me when I told him I didn't want that one. Visit two: I go in for some cardinal tetras and the lady helping me squishes one of the cardinals between the net wire and the tank. I'm thinking what kind of people do they hire here. I tell her to just forget it and I'll come back later (which I didn't) The next time I go in for some dog food and another dog collar and I'm browsing around the fish tanks and they have three Discus fish in with the koi. They weren't in the same tank but they were on a side tank that was planted and sharing the water. The Discus looked so miserable. The next time I went back the 39.00 Discus are still there dying a slow death as they are still freezing to death in the 74 degree water. I brought this to the attention of the lady in the fish section. I tried to explain to her that Discus really need to be in a lot warmer water to live and she got offended like I was attacking her personally. She told me that this set up was well thought out and they put them in there because it was planted and dark. Well thought out? Isn't that murder one?
    You know, I know that they are only fish. But, if you are going to do something, why not just do it right.
    I will not go into another Petco EVER. Not even for a piece of dog kibble.

  • I am a multi-pet owner living/working in Portland, OR. Last week (believe Wed, Jan 23, 2013) by accident, I ran into and chatted with a PETCO employee who apparently was here (Portland) temporarily from the PETCO Corporate Headquarters based in San Diego…I believe her name was Kara or Cara…but feeled compelled to pass along the fact that she was/is a terrific PETCO rep…she was very busy but took time out to chat with me briefly. She was extremely polite, focused (on our conversation) and an advocate for the full service pet care which PETCO can/does provide. Very professional yet personable and extremely knowledgeable about PETCO products. Realize you normally get "bad news/experience" chatter on these types of sites so I thought I'd take 5 min out of my day to provide some positive feedback. Thank you PETCO and thank you Kara/Cara could have also been Karen but from your San Diego PETCO Corporate Office. Thanks again…go PETCO!!

  • i was just hired as an inventory manager for a new location. my first couple of days of training was cleaning cages. when i asked about getting gloves to clean i was told that no one uses them. couple of days later when i asked when i would be learning my job of price changes i was told its only 2 hours of my day the bulk of my day wwould be cleaning cages , giving meds to sick animals, and running register. this upset me because its noting that i orginally thought my job was i mean come on they hired me as a price manager.the interview process was extremely unorganized there was persoal issues plus a new store so i rode with it but then the training process was worse. im still waiting to hear back from someone.i gave up a lot to work there believing that i could combine my love of animals with my retail expirence instead i was a glorified cage cleaner with no gloves.

  • We've bought cat food and used the grooming salon at the Orlando store on the corner of Bumby and E. Colonial now for quite awhile. Ashley in the salon has been very good with the cats clipping their claws when needed. We've never encountered a rude employee or had a smidgent of trouble with Petco.

  • I have been a Petco customer for quite a while now, buying my cats' food there plus using their grooming salon to have the kittys' claws clipped as needed. We use the store in the "Old Colonial Plaza" located at Bumby and E. Colonial Drive in Orlando. Ashley who works in the grooming salon has always been very good with the kittys. I don't know about ALL the Petco stores in the entire country, but no one in this store has ever been any way but polite and helpful.

  • Got that right! Just try to contact PETCO "Management," what an oxymoron that is! Their employees are rude, the managers are of the same ilk; "customers" cannot get through to CORPORATE MANAGEMENT .. they have illiterate STOPPERS all along the way, and even their online "option," an email format .. the Capsco or whatever defying deciphering required to "send." Some genius working for them? Returns? $130 for Frontline that not only did not work, but because it is "monthly," no other product could be applied, while the flea bites caused a painful dermitites and cost some $250. The snippy clerk/mgr couldn't bother to validate the purchase given the boxes with their ID, and I had a copy of the Receipt with all verifiable information but she didn't bother; Store credit is FREE MONEY!! Don't go there!

  • I have been trying to order a Boneheads raincoat/medium, for my friend's dog. Mine already has one and I love it! The delivery dates and prices have changed almost weekly, but the raincoat remains "out of stock." I have emailed and received just a generic response. "We will have the problem researched." I have called the only phone number available (Phillipines) and the poor people there can only read from their script and tell me the same thing I can read off the web site. Amazon had the coat in October, but it was priced higher and the s/h was higher AND the coat still came from Petco, so I could not even use Amazon's free shipping if I spent $25.00! It seems that Petco has an exclusive on this coat, but I am getting sick and tired of the two month "out of stock," changing "in stock" dates and price changes – even though the coat remains unavailable! When I requested to speak to a manager – once again the person was from the Phillipines, and couldn't tell me any more than the customer service people – in the Phillipines – could tell me. Doesn't anyone at Corporate care if they are ignoring, frustrating and angering their customers? Lauren, Vancouver, WA.

    • I went to the Petco store in Clifton,new jersey which I frequently with my two children and an associate was very rude to my 7 year old daughter grabbing a package out of her hand and touching her hand. We were buying fish and the associate was carrying three packages of fish while my little girl was carrying one and bonding with the fish as only a 7 year old can and the associate took it away from her. Very rude and uncalled for. What type of customer care is this….

  • went to new store opening in Corpus Christi Texas at 4101 US Hwy 77 Suite K1. The store is ready almost and I have been trying to contact somebody in construction or real estate side of Petco. I would like to see if our Compnay can provide quote for Communications and Sound Systems. The GC has not responded and we have done work for your comopany. Can someone call me

  • Store in Parsippany, NJ is very bad about returns. Salespeople tell you returns ok with receipt for original credit or ok for store credit without after 30 days. When I actually tried to return with receipt, they do not want to take back. They always find something wrong or past 30 days. Also, that it was bought at another Petco. Store in East Hanover is great about returns, but far from me

    • Today I went to the public restroom in Petco, Hendersonville, TN. It was among the filthiest I have ever seen. The toilet, floor, sink, even the walls were nasty. Under the sink which was visible there was at least 6-7" of cobwebs.
      Soap dispenser didn't work. Cleaning tools rusty and nasty. Didn't tell Gen. Mgr., no need; this didn't happen in a day, week, or even month. If this is what we can see, what is there that we can't see?

    • I took my two maltese to the Petco in Glendale, AZ the on on Behrend, the two girls that work there are unfriendly and unprofessional, to top it off, the man that worked there obviously did not want to do my dogs because after 2 hours I went back and they were not even touched. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO PETCO, I HAVE HEARD GREAT THINGS ABOUT PLETCLUB, AND I AM SWITCHING, I CAN ONLY WISH THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!



    • Please someone anybody dogs lives are at risk while being seen at the Petco in San Bruno! No rabies/vaccination required for puppies and self serve wash, No bath tie outs, No leads being used during 7point- plus check in, tubs moldy, salon being used as a personal dog daycare while groomers and bathers pocket the money, children are being babysat in the salon, lots of eating and taking customers dogs out for a walk during company hours.

    • I am extremely disappointed with Petco. I took my Pomeranian to get a hair cut and Petco refused to do the service after checking the notes of the previous visit, he had bitten the groomer. They stated that Petco no longer use muzzles for difficult dogs. I stated it was because of this policy that the groomer got bitten. I gave my authorization for the muzzle but they gave me the story that they no longer had time for my dog today. No muzzle policy is ridiculous. My Pomeranian is calm. Just doesn't like to be groomed. Petco asked me if I knew why the dog was this way, I said, perhaps my dog had a bad experience with the previous groomer. Every dog is different. unsafe policies that do not bend to the need of the dog is unprofessional.

    • I recently bought a male guinea pig from petco in yucca valley ca. Which recent passed away after only have him for a few short months I even took him into petco a week after we had him because he was acting funny they told me at that time it was just because he had a scratch on his side I called petco to see if they had any guinea pigs yesterday since my daughter is devestated that her fur baby passed away and explained what happened well the person told e that they have a had a huge problem with one of there distrubitors giving them sick guinea pigs and chinchillas that in the last 5 months they've had many problems of the animals dying I feel they should have try ed notifying people who purchased those animals at that time I'm very unhappy with petco and they refuse to do anything about it I will never shop there again and I will make people very aware of what happend I think people have a right to know that there animals could be at risk

    • Oak Creek Store in WI. The training Savannah is the best. We just added a addition on to our family and wanted to start off on the right paw with our new girl. Savannah was with every step of the way. To training classes to food, leashes toys ect. By the way that was all bought from Petco. We go into the store 4 times a week that is right 4 times a week. We have taken our puppy Diva because she is a shy thing and Savannah has helped us interact Diva with other dog. I don't know where we would be with out her. It is a shame that we will no longer be coming in the store that much but we will still be using Savannah as our trainer but will stop coming in 4 times a week and that's means I can just go to the pet store close to my house to purchase the items I need because my puppy will be turning 6 months at the end of July. This is a sad day for us very sad we will miss that hour of play time with a great trainer that new what she was doing.

    • I called my local Petco in Golden Colorado, where we are very regular customers, last week to inquire about having my 11-month old Pomeranian groomed. I was assured that there were a couple of groomers with experience with Poms and that Pat was the best groomer for the job. Looking to find a groomer closer to our home, I went ahead and made an appointment for today. Upon arrival promptly at 10 am, three of the groomers were huddled around the computer checking in another dog. There was no greeting, no pleasantries whatsoever, and when it came our turn, I gave VERY specific instructions about the services that I wanted her to complete on my Pom. She barely looked up from the computer and I don't believe that she even heard on word of instruction from me. I very specifically instructed her NOT TO TOUCH my Poms tail, which was a full, long, lush plume that draped over her back. Upon arriving to pick my little girl up 3 hours later, I was crushed to see that she had cut her short everywhere, including at least 4 inches from her beautiful tail. I was furious and demanded to see the store manager, who apologized and gave me the full grooming fee back. The groomer, Pat, did not even have the courage to come out from the back to learn why I was upset. Honestly, I will never step foot in another Petco again, so think carefully before having your fur babies groomed by these clearly incompetent idiots!

    • Maybe Petco is going out of business. I have seen a vertical drop in their online sales and service. Even theough, some of the reps are difficult to understand, at least in the pastmy orders were precise and deliverable on time..However, the past 2 weeks..i have been trying to settle a totally botched order, delivery STILL not completed..and 5 different calls well over 2 hrs to get this straightened out! I am sorry I completed the satisfaction survey based on my ordering experience with Petco..I gave it the highest ratings..never realizing what a problem this order has been! I realize it's the busy season, but to receive one excuse after another , with different information, as to why this order is a mess…
      ~1st: I never received an email for an order confirmation,just he survey..tried checking my account online..nothing was listed regarding this order?? then Called Petco, and was told to check my account online~ rep couldn't find order either and mistaken sent me a'change my password- which couldn't change and attempt was blocked! Orders were wrong..then received a partial order and told the remaining would be her the following day..that was a week ago and still waiting! The 3 different supervisors stated they promised my complete order would arrive over the weekend..still waiting! Finally, received a message to call and I've been on hold for 40 mins waiting for a rep to pick up!! Petco is the Pitts! Shape up!!They are too many competitors out there that are more worthy and appreciative of their customers!
