Regional numbers are published by Connecticut PURA, the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities and the utility-sponsored NHSaves contact directory. The investor contact is on Eversource’s investor website.
For natural gas, use the service and emergency contacts printed on your gas bill or the utility’s account portal. Do not assume that an electric-service contact handles every gas account. Connecticut’s regulator also publishes a separate gas utility contact directory.
How to Escalate an Eversource Complaint
The following preparation steps are suggestions for organizing a service or billing inquiry. They do not guarantee a credit, a particular investigation outcome or an exception to a utility’s applicable rules.
- Start with the regional service team. Identify the state, service address and whether the issue concerns electricity or gas. Describe the immediate problem before explaining the longer history.
- Gather the relevant records. Have the bill, billing period, disputed amount, payment confirmation and previous case number available. For a service visit, include the appointment date and the work requested.
- Ask a specific question. Request an explanation of a charge, review of a meter reading, confirmation of a payment allocation or an update on an unresolved service order.
- Request further review if the response is incomplete. Ask for a supervisor or the team responsible for that type of concern. Obtain the reference number and request a written explanation when a decision affects your account.
- Keep a timeline. Record when you contacted the company, what it said it would do and what remains unresolved. This creates a useful record if you later contact a state utility agency.
For written corporate correspondence, identify the operating company shown on your bill and explain the prior steps you have taken. Send copies of supporting records rather than irreplaceable originals. Confirm the appropriate receiving department before mailing sensitive documents to a general office.
Preparing an Eversource Billing or Account Inquiry
A higher total does not by itself identify the source of a billing problem. Compare the billing dates, usage, rate information, prior balance, adjustments and payments. Ask which specific item changed and whether the bill used an actual or estimated meter reading.

Keep the requested remedy proportionate to the issue. For example, a meter-reading question calls for an explanation or review of the reading, while a missing payment requires tracing the payment. Separating those questions can make a complicated account history easier to resolve.
State Resources for an Unresolved Utility Complaint
Contact the utility first and retain its response. If the issue remains unresolved, check the consumer-complaint process for the state where service is provided. Corporate headquarters locations do not determine which state agency handles a household complaint.
