How to Submit a University of Phoenix Complaint

The university asks students to try resolving concerns with the department involved or a supervisor first. If the issue remains unresolved, Resolution Services provides an independent review. The university prefers a written statement by email but also accepts phone contact.

Its published process requests your name, student individual record number (IRN), preferred contact method, an explanation of the issue, previous attempts to resolve it and your requested outcome. Send those identifiers privately to the university.

These additional preparation steps are editorial suggestions:

  1. Build a short timeline. Identify the course, term or transaction involved and the dates you contacted the university. Explain what remains unresolved.
  2. Attach relevant evidence. Save the applicable policy, invoice, course instructions, emails or screenshots. Send copies and retain your original records.
  3. State the requested review. Explain whether you need an account correction, clarification of an academic decision, a records update or another specific action.
  4. Keep the response together. Request acknowledgment, retain any case reference and ask which process applies if further review is available. Check the policy for submission deadlines.

The university places its Student Grievances and Dispute Resolution Policy in the Academic Catalog. Use the catalog and instructions applicable to your program and concern; a general inquiry should not be assumed to satisfy every formal appeal requirement.

A public review here does not file an official university complaint. Keep student numbers, grades, financial-aid documents, medical information, payment details and private correspondence out of public comments and images.

Tuition, Academic and Technical Questions

Tuition balances and financial-aid questions

For an unexpected university balance, request an itemized account explanation from the team handling your student finances. Identify the course dates, charge and payment involved. Ask which documents or actions remain outstanding if aid has not been applied as expected.

Before withdrawing or changing your schedule, ask the university to explain the effect on your tuition, aid and account balance. Keep the answer and applicable policy in writing. If the response does not address your concern, include the account history and earlier correspondence in a Resolution Services submission.

Grades, course requirements and academic decisions

Start with the instructor or academic department when a question concerns grading, assignment instructions or course expectations. Identify the assignment and the specific part of the published criteria you want reviewed. Your academic advisor can help you locate the appropriate university process.

Use the applicable catalog policy for a formal appeal. Keep copies of your submission and the decision, and ask about the next review step and deadline. Do not rely on a public review or a general complaint email as a replacement for a required academic appeal.

Student portal or online classroom problems

Contact technical support when you cannot access university systems or encounter an error. Record the time, error message, browser and affected page. A screenshot can help, but remove passwords and unrelated private information.

If the problem affects an assignment, notify your instructor promptly and retain the support reference. Ask how to document the disruption and submit your work; do not assume a support request automatically changes a due date.

Accessibility and accommodations

The university’s student accommodations guide explains how to request support and contact the accommodations team. Use that process for disability-related adjustments and submit supporting documentation only through the university’s designated channels.

University of Phoenix Transcripts and Records

The official transcript page offers ordering through the National Student Clearinghouse and the student portal. Students can also view and download an unofficial transcript through MyPhoenix.

Before ordering, check that the coursework, grades and degree you need have posted. Confirm the recipient, delivery method and current fee on the order screen. University of Phoenix directs questions about name changes and certain special transcript requests to 800-866-3919.

In-person transcript pickup requires an appointment; the university says walk-ins cannot be accommodated. Follow its ordering and scheduling instructions before traveling to the office. For a delivery problem, keep the order confirmation and identify whether the issue concerns the academic record or the delivery of the document.

Where Can Students Take an Unresolved Complaint?

The university’s complaint directory explains external options, including state regulators and the Higher Learning Commission. The appropriate organization depends on the subject of the complaint, your location and its jurisdiction.

For eligible distance-education complaints, the Arizona SARA Council requires completion of the university and applicable state complaint processes first. Its process is available to qualifying students outside Arizona, excludes California students, and has a two-year filing window. Grade grievances and student-conduct complaints are excluded. Review the Council’s full eligibility rules before filing.

The university describes HLC’s complaint process as addressing compliance with accreditation standards. Before filing with any outside organization, check which issues it reviews, what documents it requires and whether you must complete earlier review steps.

About University of Phoenix, Ownership and Accreditation

Founded in 1976, University of Phoenix provides higher education primarily online for working adults. Its offerings include undergraduate and graduate degrees, certificates and individual courses in areas such as business, technology, education and healthcare. See the university overview for current institutional information.

Its parent company is Phoenix Education Partners, Inc., which completed its initial public offering in October 2025 and trades on the New York Stock Exchange as PXED. The proposed acquisition involving a University of Idaho affiliate was terminated in June 2025, according to the parent’s annual report. The university should not be described as having become part of the University of Idaho.

University of Phoenix states that it has held continuous Higher Learning Commission accreditation since 1978. Its accreditation page distinguishes institutional accreditation from accreditation held by particular programs. The receiving school makes transfer-credit decisions; prospective students should also confirm program suitability for any intended professional license with the relevant licensing authority.

University of Phoenix Corporate Office Questions

Is there a verified University of Phoenix HR number?

A dedicated public HR telephone number was not verified. Applicants can use the official careers website. Employees with payroll, benefits or employment-record questions should use their employer-provided HR contacts. The university information and parent-company numbers should not be labeled as HR lines.

Can I email a student complaint instead of mailing it?

Yes. Resolution Services publishes ResolutionServices@phoenix.edu for student concerns and prefers written submissions by email. Include the information requested on its complaint page and preserve a copy of what you send.

Does the corporate office handle transcript orders?

Use the transcript-ordering page or records-support team for that request. Sending a general letter to central administration does not replace the ordering instructions, identity checks or pickup appointment process.
