How To Contact E*TRADE Corporate Office Headquarters

E*TRADE Headquarters and Customer Service Overview

Headquarters clarification: The Arlington address was E*TRADE’s corporate headquarters before and during its acquisition by Morgan Stanley. Morgan Stanley completed the acquisition in October 2020, and E*TRADE now operates as E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley. Current official support instructions direct customer mail and account documents to Jersey City rather than Arlington.

E*TRADE Company History and Morgan Stanley Ownership

E*TRADE traces its history to 1982, when William Porter and Bernard Newcomb founded the company, then known as TradePlus, with the goal of allowing individuals to trade securities using personal computers. Early E*TRADE technology was used to place an online trade in 1983, helping the company become a pioneer in digital brokerage services.

Morgan Stanley completed its acquisition of E*TRADE in October 2020. The E*TRADE brand continues as a digital, self-directed investing channel within Morgan Stanley’s wealth-management business. Its services include brokerage and retirement accounts, web and mobile trading, Power E*TRADE, employee stock-plan services, and banking products provided by Morgan Stanley Private Bank.

E*TRADE Competitors in Online Brokerage and Investing

E*TRADE competes primarily with online brokerage and investment companies rather than traditional retail banks. Major competitors include Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments, Vanguard, and Ally Bank and Ally Invest.

E*TRADE differentiates itself through its established online-trading brand, Power E*TRADE platform, research and educational tools, retirement products, mobile applications, and integration with Morgan Stanley’s broader financial-services operations.

How To Escalate an E*TRADE Complaint

  1. Call 1-800-387-2331 and ask for the department responsible for the account or transaction involved.
  2. Request a case or reference number and record the date, time, department, and explanation provided.
  3. Use E*TRADE’s secure contact or document-upload service for account-specific correspondence. Avoid sending private financial information through ordinary email.
  4. Keep copies of statements, trade confirmations, transfer records, error messages, letters, and secure messages.
  5. Clearly describe the requested resolution, such as restoring account access, reviewing a transaction, correcting a record, or explaining an account restriction.
  6. For a serious unresolved brokerage complaint, consider the FINRA Investor Complaint Center.
  7. Problems involving an investment account or financial professional may also be submitted through the SEC investor complaint process.

Regulatory complaints and dispute-resolution proceedings serve different purposes. Filing a regulatory complaint does not guarantee reimbursement or recovery of an investment loss.

E*TRADE Customer Review Snapshot

At the time of this update, CorporateOfficeHeadquarters.com had one published E*TRADE review. The reviewer described repeated customer-service calls, difficulty completing an individual-account application, restricted account access after profile changes, and trouble locating an effective escalation route.

One review is not enough to establish a broad customer-service trend. Additional detailed reviews can help show whether other customers have encountered similar account-opening, access, or escalation problems.

Protect your financial information: Do not publish an account number, Social Security number, taxpayer identification number, password, security code, investment balance, bank information, home address, tax document, beneficiary information, or trade confirmation in a public review. Contact E*TRADE immediately if an account may be compromised.

Etrade Ongoing Issues with Opening an Individual Account

May 20, 2025

Etrade, Since late April 2025, I’ve been trying to open an individual account with Etrade. Despite making five separate calls to customer service, the issues remain unresolved. I was eventually able to link my bank account to Etrade, but access to my Etrade account was then inexplicably blocked. It has become clear that Etrade prioritizes internal documentation and checkbox procedures over actually resolving customer concerns. The lack of genuine support and failure to listen to customers has been incredibly frustrating—so much so that I now feel I have no choice but to move on to another brokerage firm. Here is a brief timeline of the communication and email history: 5/12: External Funding Account Success. 5/12: Thank You for Choosing E*TRADE. 5/12: Enrolled in Promotion. 5/12: Account Address Update. 5/12: Account Phone Number Update. 5/12: Due to Change in Status – Features Limited. 5/13: Deposit Verification Notice. 5/14: Welcome to E*TRADE. Unfortunately, when repeated phone calls are unsuccessful, there seems to be no alternate way to escalate the issue or contact someone who can actually help. I’m requesting that someone at E*TRADE review this situation, respond via email, and provide a detailed explanation on how this account can be properly activated and these ongoing issues resolved. Thank you.
