American Home Shield Replacement and Repairs Issues. I have been with American Home Shield for about two years. The first year when I had called about my furnace someone came and repaired it. This year when the weather has been below zero, I had called about my furnace and it took a week before someone came to “repair” the furnace. It has been less than a month and the furnace do not work. I had called for someone to come to repair the furnace. No one had came and now I am being told that there is a cost other that the usual payment. No one knows anything and it is below zero and I still need my furnace repaired or replace.

American Home Shield, Do not use this company! My heat went out on 02/19/2025 during a snow storm called AHS to send out a technician. Informed them that I had an elderly mother and that my sister was an LVAD heart patient in the home. They didn’t have a problem quickly taking the deductible but afterwards said there were no technicians and to find my own technician, pay for it and send in a reimbursement form. At no time was an authorization form discussed until I let them know I did as they instructed me to do and found my own technician. There are too many other capable warranty companies such as 2.10 and First American who I am calling to change over to. You should be ashamed of this type of service and if I could give you a 0 rating I would have! Also, the customer representatives you have working to input the work order tickets were very unprofessional.(Arnold for the escalation department).

American Home Shield Frustrating Customer Service

American Home Shield has been completely unreliable, irresponsible, and unresponsive for years. After selling a condo a few years ago, we requested AHS to mail us written information about transferring the coverage to another unit. To this day, we have never received it. Meanwhile, the monthly fees have continued to be charged and even increased over time—apparently, the contract never expires. Despite multiple calls, we were given the runaround about what needed to be done. They raise fees but keep you in the cheapest plan possible, limiting your options. You can’t use your trusted local companies and must pay their service fee before their selected contractors even show up. More often than not, these technicians are unqualified, leave without solving the issue, or even make things worse. As retirees with medical concerns, we don’t have time to spend hours on the phone or in front of a computer trying to deal with this company. AHS is a waste of time and money for hardworking people and retirees alike. The Consumer Protection Agency should investigate how they operate.

American Home Shield Disappointing Service

American Home Shield, I had a Goodman heat pump system installed by Southern Air on October 19th 2023. I had a home warranty with American Home Shield. AHS agreed to replace my old unit. Southern told me I had to pay $2700 to “upgrade” the site to current code. He freely admitted that was the only way for him to be profitable, since AHS doesn’t pay him enough. I was told the unit came with a 10-year warranty. Southern Air neglected to tell me that to get the full 10 years, I needed to register the unit with Goodman, the manufacturer. Otherwise, it would default to a 5-year warranty. The heat strips failed and I contacted Southern Air and Heat at 2324 b Faith Caroline BLVD, York, SC on Friday Jan 24th to repair the unit. They told me there would be an $89 charge to come out and fix it. The tech told me the warranty did not apply to the heat strips. They only had a one-year warranty and it will cost me about $550 to repair the unit and he would be back Monday with the parts. I contacted Goodman customer service, they informed me everything has a 5-year warranty. I sent Southern a text on Saturday informing them of this. Magically, on Monday, January 27, 2025, the Tech showed up and informed me that Goodman changed the warranty over the weekend and the heat strips were now covered. I allowed the tech to repair the unit. Upon completion of the repair, the tech presented me with a bill for $339. He said the $89 only covered sending the tech out but not any labor required to repair it. Since it is January and just went through the coldest stretch in 25 years, I paid the bill. Just thought you would want to know the type of company you’re in business with.

American Home Shield Frustrating Replacement Issue

American Home Shield, Not keeping contract promise. We moved to Murphy, NC, two and one-half years ago, to down-size due to age {I am 82.) and health issues. We immediately insured the home appliances with Home Shield (April 2022). This is our claim: Kitchenaid dishwasher on Jan. 7, 2025. The appliance was deemed not repairable by the Home Shield recommended partner, for which we paid the contract agreed fee of $107. Our contract with Home Shield states “if not repairable, Home Shield will Replace with a comparable”appliance. We were led to believe comparable replacement meant equal in value and “in place”.. The brand name is not important to us (shop the sales), only that the dishwasher fits the cabinet cut-out, has the sanitation feature and stainless steel tub (a comparable equivalent to existing insured model). Comparable models list between $700 and $800 before tax or delivery fees. Home Shield will not offer more than $692.79, however, all dealers require, above appliance cost, a $200 installation, plus any parts needed to connect, plus $50 to haul off the broken machine. We are at least $250 short of a fair contractual settlement. Because of immune system deficiency from cancer, we require the sanitation/stainless-steel tub not plastic or PVC tub..Our physical age and strength deem, we are not capable of moving or installing the new machine ourselves (the reason for Home Shield insurance). Home Shield is not backing the contractual promise of comparable replacement. On social security — the $107 will come out of this month’s food budget — the $50 removal can wait on the porch and come out of next month’s food budget — not sure at all where the installation $200 will come from — we believed from contract that it was part of the Home Shield responsibility. I certainly will be warning others that AHS doesn’t cover.
