American Home Shield Poor Choice Of Service Provider

December 12, 2024

On November 15, I contacted American Home Shield because my heater was blowing cold air. They assigned AMP Mechanical, despite my request for Oaks Heat and Air, a trusted provider. AMP arrived on 11/21 after a week’s wait, and their technician seemed unsure of the issue. After hours, a thermostat replacement, and a misdiagnosis of a faulty motherboard, I was left without heat for weeks. Calls went unanswered, and updates were nonexistent.

AMP finally replaced the motherboard on 12/5, but the heater still didn’t work. Their owner proposed expensive solutions: $3,000 for a relay switch repair or $9,000 for a new unit. Doubting their honesty, I requested a second opinion from Oaks Heat and Air, who identified the real problems: chewed wiring, incorrect fuses, and an unsuitable thermostat replacement—all missed by AMP.

AMP Mechanical demonstrated incompetence and dishonesty, leaving my family without heat for nearly a month in freezing weather. American Home Shield should reevaluate the businesses they partner with. I request Oaks Heat and Air to handle my home’s future needs exclusively. Thank you for addressing these concerns.

American Home Sheild Frustrating Service

November 30, 2024

American Home Shield, I have paid so much money into this warranty, and AHS has been anything but helpful. Basically, I am paying for nothing! I live in a cold state. We had a high of 20 degrees and my furnace wasn’t working at all. I put in a service request and waited for 2 hours when no one contacted me. I called AHS 3 different times over the course of the day, spent my entire day on the phone literally. I kept being told I had to wait, they had a process and a procedure to follow. They wouldn’t let me find my own repair man and reimburse me, but they hadn’t gotten in touch with anyone to come look at my furnace all day. Meanwhile my house was getting colder and colder. Finally, I talked with a manager, who was unwilling to work with me because “they have a procedure to follow”. I told her how I had waited All day for someone. I sent in a request around 10:00 am and it was now 4:30 pm. She wanted me to still give them time to exhaust every opportunity to find a contractor to send out. I was still supposed to wait 4 more hours for them to find someone as the temperperatures continued to dip. I cancelled the service request and found someone who was able to come over within half an hour. I am going to pay that person to put in a new furnace. If AHS ever would get someone here to look at it they won’t replace it even though it’s very old. They will just want to replace a part and in a few weeks I’ll be back to square one. Such a waste of my day, my energy, and worst of all my hard-earned money. Don’t Waste Your Money For A Service You Will Not Receive. Totally unhelpful and unwilling to fulfill their end of the agreement.

American Home Shield Frustrating Customer Service

November 12, 2024

American Home Shield, Never, Never to enroll again. I am so frustrated and tired of calling this company. I have a problem with my oven. The contractor sent a young man with the tool that measures temperature. The only thing he knows is to test the inside the oven and say it reaches the highest temperature that is supposed to be reached. I will tell both technician and AHS that the problem is that it does not distribute the heat evenly and only heat works for one level and not others. American Home Shield sends me the same young tech and he gives me the same answer. Finally; they sent an experienced technician. He said, he will order some parts and will receive it in 5 days but I did not hear anything yet. I am calling AHS but they are not helpful and telling me for a month that they are waiting for the contractor to send the report. It’s 1.5 month since the technician has ordered the piece. It is close to the Thanksgiving and I have no oven. I am trying to call corporate office but the phones listed on the internet belong to other company. I don’t know why they are hiding. Their customer service is not good at all. The only thing they know is to put you on the hold; comeback and say for a minute or more: thank you for holding, Sorry for the wait, and etc. and waste of time. No More American Home Shield.

Air Conditioning Vandalized and Not Covered

January 5, 2024

Last summer my ac quit working in the state of texas. Repair people were sent but they said my outside unit was vandalized and would not cover. It is a outside unit and could been vandalized but to my knowledge no one in the household did it and was not aware of that issue. Not a good outcome on this claim

American Home Shield Run-Around

December 19, 2023

On November 9th, 2023 American Home Shield sent a technician out to repair a leak in our bathtub faucet. The technician said that he needed a special tool because turning it would cause the pipes to break. He said that he would need to contact American Home Shield. I never saw that individual again. American Home Shield sent another company over and that technician did exactly what the first technician said not to do and broke the pipes. He then said that he could fix it but would need to replace the broken pipe. To do this, he said that he would need to cut a hole in the wall. I asked him if they would repair the hole and he told me that American Home Shield would send someone out to repair the hole in the wall. A couple of weeks went by and no wall repair. I called American Home Shield and was told that they were looking for a technician. A couple more weeks went by so I called again and received the same answer. A week later, I was offered a cash-out option of 120.00 for me to repair the wall myself, which I declined. They then told me that they were still hoping to find a technician. It was now getting close to Thanksgiving and still no repair. I received an email asking about the cash out option which I declined again. I called again during the first week of December. It’s like they had amnesia so I had to repeat the whole story. And received the same answer; we’re still looking for a technician. I’m frustrated at this point but I said ok. It’s now December 19th. I called them again and this time I was told that since I declined the cash-out offer back in November, they stopped the search for a technician to repair the hole in the wall. You can now imagine how I’m feeling at this point. The supervisor that I spoke to says that she is going to escalate the ticket (Which I’ve heard from about four other individuals I’ve spoken to over the last month and a half.). All I want is for them to stick to their agreement. I assume that if I stop paying them monthly, they will honor their agreement by not providing services any longer. I should get the same respect. I just want them to fix the hole in my wall!
