Boar’s Head Corporate Office vs. Consumer Support

Boar’s Head corporate headquarters handles company administration, leadership, finance, legal matters, marketing, food-safety strategy, manufacturing oversight and company-wide business operations.

The Product & Nutrition Information team handles ingredient questions, dietary concerns, product availability, quality complaints, packaging problems and general consumer feedback.

The supermarket or deli counter normally handles the immediate sale, refund, exchange, incorrect weight, incorrect price, slicing request or service complaint.

Local Purveyors are independently owned and operated distributors serving specific stores, delis, restaurants and foodservice customers.

USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service regulates meat and poultry products and accepts reports involving contamination, foreign objects, misbranding and other regulated product concerns.

  • The package or production code

  • Photographs of the product and packaging
  • A description of the product’s appearance, smell, taste or texture

Do not publish medical records, full payment-card details, home addresses, private telephone numbers, employee names, unredacted receipts or other sensitive information in a public review.

How to Make a Boar’s Head Product Complaint

Call 1-800-352-6277 or submit the Product & Nutrition contact form.

Provide:

  1. The exact product name
  2. The package and date codes
  3. The store where it was purchased
  4. The purchase date
  5. A factual description of the concern
  6. Whether any product remains
  7. Whether anyone became ill or injured
  8. The requested resolution

Keep the original package and remaining food until Boar’s Head, the retailer or a government agency advises what to do with it.

Do not mail perishable food to the Sarasota corporate office without written shipping and handling instructions.

How to Escalate an Unresolved Boar’s Head Complaint

Start with the retailer when the complaint involves the sale, price, weight, deli employee, slicing method or refund.

Contact Boar’s Head Consumer Support when the issue involves:

  • Product quality
  • Ingredients or nutrition
  • Packaging
  • Possible contamination
  • A foreign object
  • A manufacturing defect
  • A recurring problem involving the same product

If the first representative cannot resolve the complaint, ask for review by Consumer Affairs, Quality Assurance or the appropriate product specialist. Request a case number and keep all correspondence.

Written corporate correspondence may be sent to:

Boar’s Head Brand
1819 Main Street
Suite 800
Sarasota, FL 34236

Mailing corporate headquarters does not replace a medical consultation, local health-department report, USDA complaint, retailer refund deadline or other time-sensitive procedure.

Reporting a Meat or Poultry Product to USDA

USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service accepts complaints involving meat, poultry and processed egg products.

Consumers can:

  • Call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-674-6854.
  • Submit a complaint through the official online food-complaint portal.
  • Contact a local or state health department when illness is involved.

USDA advises consumers to retain:

  • The original container or packaging
  • Any foreign object found in the product
  • Any uneaten portion of the product

Refrigerate or freeze the uneaten product as appropriate and avoid unnecessary handling.

Possible Foodborne Illness

A person who becomes ill after eating a deli product should seek medical advice when symptoms are serious, persistent or concerning.

Call emergency services for severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, severe dehydration, confusion or another immediate medical emergency.

Record:

  • What was eaten
  • When it was eaten
  • When symptoms began
  • Who else ate the food
  • How the product was stored
  • The store and purchase date
  • The package and establishment codes

A product consumed before an illness is not necessarily the cause. Public-health agencies and healthcare professionals may need laboratory, epidemiological and purchase information to determine the likely source.

Listeria and Higher-Risk Consumers

Listeria infection can be especially serious for:

  • Pregnant people
  • Newborns
  • Adults age 65 or older
  • People with weakened immune systems

CDC advises higher-risk consumers to avoid deli meat or heat it to an internal temperature of 165°F or until steaming hot immediately before serving.

Consumers should follow current public-health guidance and the instructions of their healthcare professional.

The 2024 Boar’s Head Recall

In July 2024, Boar’s Head Provisions Co., Inc. recalled ready-to-eat liverwurst and other meat and poultry products produced at its Jarratt, Virginia, facility because of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The expanded Class I recall included products produced between May 10 and July 29, 2024. Recalled products displayed establishment number EST. 12612 or P-12612 inside the USDA inspection mark.

The affected products had sell-by dates ranging through October 17, 2024. Those products are now beyond their expected shelf life.

USDA closed the recall on November 6, 2024. CDC subsequently stated that the related outbreak was over.

Historical Public-Health Impact

CDC’s final investigation reported 61 illnesses across 19 states, 60 hospitalizations and 10 deaths associated with the outbreak strain.

This information is historical and should not be interpreted as an active recall of all current Boar’s Head products.

Consumers should use USDA’s current Recall Directory to determine whether any new or active recall affects a product presently in their possession.

Jarratt Facility Reopening

Boar’s Head initially closed its Jarratt, Virginia, facility after the 2024 recall.

The company announced that the facility resumed operations on February 2, 2026, following renovations and changes that it described as including:

  • Controls consistent with USDA’s Alternative 2 Listeria-control program
  • Enhanced environmental sampling
  • Additional laboratory testing and analysis
  • Strengthened sanitation procedures
  • Additional third-party sanitation training
  • Updated employee food-safety training
  • Regular audits

The company also appointed Natalie Dyenson as Chief Food Safety Officer and established a Food Safety Advisory Council.

Checking for a Current Boar’s Head Recall

Do not rely on an old social-media post, screenshot or news article to determine whether a current product is recalled.

Check:

  • The USDA FSIS Recall Directory
  • The product name
  • The package size
  • The establishment number
  • The production or sell-by date
  • The official recall notice

When a recall applies, stop eating the product and follow the disposal, return or cleaning instructions in the official notice.

Deli Counter Complaints

Boar’s Head products are often sliced, packaged and sold by supermarket or independent deli employees.

The retailer may control:

  • The cleanliness of the deli counter
  • The slicer and utensils
  • The thickness and weight of the order
  • The printed price
  • The packaging
  • The sell-by label applied after slicing
  • Employee conduct
  • The immediate refund or replacement

Contact the deli manager first when the complaint concerns these store-controlled activities.

Contact Boar’s Head as well when the concern appears to involve the original manufactured product, packaging, recipe, contamination or recurring quality.

Deli Cross-Contact and Allergen Concerns

A supermarket deli may use the same slicer, preparation surface or utensils for several meats and cheeses.

Customers with severe allergies or medically necessary dietary restrictions should ask the retailer about:

  • Shared slicers
  • Shared gloves and utensils
  • Cleaning procedures
  • Cross-contact with dairy, nuts or other allergens
  • Whether an unopened package can be used

The ingredients in the manufactured product and the conditions at the deli counter are separate considerations.

Boar’s Head Ingredient and Nutrition Questions

Boar’s Head publishes nutrition facts, ingredient statements and dietary attributes for many products on its website.

The company states that its meats, cheeses, condiments and spreads are gluten-free and that its products contain no artificial colors, artificial flavors, caramel color, MSG added, fillers or by-products.

Individual products can differ in:

  • Milk or lactose content
  • Sodium
  • Sugar
  • Nitrates or nitrites
  • Animal ingredients
  • Organic or natural claims
  • American Heart Association certification

Always review the current label on the actual product. Formulas, suppliers, packaging and product availability can change.

Gluten-Free Questions

Boar’s Head states that its meats, cheeses, condiments and hummus are gluten-free.

Consumers with celiac disease or severe sensitivity should still:

  • Read the current package label.
  • Ask about deli-counter cross-contact.
  • Confirm that bread, condiments and other sandwich ingredients are handled separately.
  • Contact the Product & Nutrition Information Line with product-specific questions.

Milk and Lactose Questions

Some Boar’s Head products are identified as milk-free or lactose-free, while many cheese products contain milk.

Do not assume that every meat, cheese, spread or prepared deli item has the same allergen profile.

Check the current ingredient and allergen statement and ask the retailer about cross-contact.

Sodium and Heart-Healthy Products

Boar’s Head offers selected lower-sodium meats and cheeses, as well as products displaying the American Heart Association Heart-Check mark.

The terms “lower sodium” and “heart healthy” apply only to products meeting the relevant criteria. They do not mean that every Boar’s Head product is low in sodium.

Consumers following a medically prescribed diet should compare the serving size and sodium amount on the current Nutrition Facts panel.

Nitrates and Nitrites

Nitrate and nitrite statements vary by product.

Some products may be labelled as containing no added nitrates or nitrites except those naturally occurring in ingredients such as cultured celery juice or sea salt.

Contact the Product & Nutrition Information Line for questions about a specific product and package.

Product Freshness and Storage

Boar’s Head recommends purchasing only the amount of freshly sliced deli meat that can be consumed within approximately three days for optimum flavour and quality.

Keep deli products refrigerated and follow the handling instructions provided by the retailer or on the package.

The three-day recommendation is not a substitute for checking:

  • The store-applied sell-by date
  • The original package date
  • Refrigerator temperature
  • Signs of spoilage
  • Current government food-safety guidance

Discard food that was left at an unsafe temperature or shows signs of spoilage.

Can Boar’s Head Products Be Frozen?

Boar’s Head states that it does not recommend freezing its products because freezing can affect texture and flavour.

When a consumer chooses to freeze a product, it should be thawed under refrigeration rather than at room temperature.

Freezing does not make contaminated food safe and does not eliminate every foodborne pathogen.

Boar’s Head Refunds and Replacements

Most Boar’s Head products are sold by supermarkets, delis, warehouse clubs and specialty retailers rather than directly by Boar’s Head.

The selling retailer normally controls:

  • The refund method
  • The exchange process
  • Receipt requirements
  • Return deadlines
  • Store-credit decisions

Contact the store first with the product and receipt. Boar’s Head Consumer Support may separately investigate a quality or manufacturing complaint.

Do not return spoiled or potentially contaminated food to a store without placing it in secure packaging and following the retailer’s instructions.

Product Availability and Store Locator

Boar’s Head products are sold through selected supermarkets, gourmet stores, delis, restaurants and foodservice establishments.

Use the official Store Locator or call 1-800-352-6277 to locate products.

Availability can vary by:

  • Region
  • Retailer
  • Local Purveyor
  • Season
  • Package format
  • Individual product variety

Call the retailer before travelling when looking for a specific product.

Foodservice and Restaurant Inquiries

Restaurants, hotels, caterers, institutions and other commercial kitchens interested in serving Boar’s Head products should use the official Foodservice page.

A useful inquiry should identify:

  • The business name
  • The location
  • The type of foodservice operation
  • The estimated purchasing volume
  • The products of interest
  • The requested distribution area

Consumer Support may refer the business to the appropriate Local Purveyor or foodservice representative.

Boar’s Head Local Purveyors

Boar’s Head distributes products with the assistance of independently owned and operated Local Purveyors.

A Local Purveyor may serve supermarkets, delicatessens, restaurants and other foodservice customers within an assigned area.

People interested in becoming a Local Purveyor should use the official application website rather than submitting a consumer complaint form.

Employment, contracts, territory rights and operating requirements are determined through the Local Purveyor program and applicable agreements.

Boars Head Charcuterie Trio Incorrect Labeling Issue

April 7, 2025

Boars Head, Incorrect Labeling. Nutritional facts label incorrect. I purchased one of your Charcuterie Trio items and your nutritional label states a serving is 1-ounce and there’s 3 servings per package, but the package reads it contains 6- ounces. UPC code – 042421163216. I thought Quality Assurance was Boar’s Head number 1 priority. It appears the company has more improvements to make. Simple errors like this should be unacceptable if the company wants the public’s full confidence back.
