Duke Energy Disappointing IsPayment Issue

February 11, 2025

Duke Energy Fails to Honor Their Word. Duke Energy has become unreliable and dishonest. On January 8, 2025, I spoke with four different representatives about my enrollment in the budget billing program. After much back and forth, a supervisor confirmed that I would be re-enrolled in the program on February 2, 2025, at a rate of $104 per month. I even received a letter dated January 7, 2025, and an email confirming my re-enrollment. However, in February, I received a billing statement for $256.15, due March 3, 2025. After speaking with two more representatives and another supervisor, I was again assured that I would be reinstated on the budget plan. On February 6, I received a text confirming my reinstatement, but at $108 per month instead of the agreed $104. Despite all of these confirmations, my account still reflects the $256.15 balance. I am 75 years old and on a fixed income. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was repeatedly told they were unavailable, and I have yet to receive any follow-up. After nine years as a loyal Duke Energy customer, always paying on time, I am extremely disappointed in their lack of accountability. I don’t know who to turn to for help, but it’s clear Duke Energy does not care about keeping their word. I simply cannot afford to pay the incorrect balance if they do not fix this issue.
