About Xcel Energy

Xcel Energy is a regulated electric and natural gas utility serving customers across parts of Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin. The company provides electricity, natural gas, renewable energy programs, outage response, energy efficiency programs, and related utility services.

Readers often search for Xcel Energy headquarters, Xcel Energy corporate office, Xcel Energy corporate address, Xcel Energy headquarters address, Xcel Energy HQ, and Xcel Energy Minneapolis address when trying to reach the company beyond a local customer service issue. For most billing, outage, service, or account concerns, however, customers should start with Xcel’s customer support or emergency route before contacting the corporate office.

How to Contact Xcel Energy About a Complaint

If you need to complain about Xcel Energy, start with the support route connected to your account, state, and service address. Utility complaints often require account verification, meter information, service location details, billing history, outage records, or prior case numbers.

  • Billing complaints: Have your account number, service address, bill dates, payment confirmations, and prior customer service case numbers ready.
  • Outage complaints: Report active outages through Xcel’s outage tools or by calling 1-800-895-1999. Keep outage dates, times, and restoration notices.
  • Gas leak or emergency concerns: Leave immediately, call 911, and then call Xcel at 1-800-895-2999.
  • Start, stop, or move service issues: Keep move dates, confirmation numbers, deposits, service address details, and account emails.
  • Meter or usage disputes: Save usage history, meter readings, photos, bills, and any technician notes.
  • Claims or property damage: Use Xcel’s claims process and include photos, repair estimates, receipts, dates, times, and the service address involved.

Xcel Energy Claims and Property Damage Issues

If you believe Xcel Energy equipment, work, outage activity, voltage issues, or another utility-related event caused property damage, review Xcel’s claims process before submitting a claim. Claims usually require supporting documents such as photos, receipts, repair estimates, damaged item details, dates, times, and service location information.

Claims are different from normal billing or outage complaints. If the issue is an active outage, emergency, gas leak, or downed power line, use the emergency and outage numbers first.

Regulatory Escalation for Utility Complaints

Xcel Energy is a regulated utility. If a billing, service, shutoff, outage-response, meter, deposit, or service-quality complaint is not resolved through Xcel Energy, customers may be able to contact the utility regulator or public utilities commission in the state where the service address is located.

Before filing a regulatory complaint, gather your Xcel account number, service address, billing statements, shutoff notices, payment records, outage records, service tickets, and any written responses from Xcel Energy. Regulatory agencies usually expect customers to try resolving the issue with the utility first unless the matter is urgent or safety-related.

Board, Investor, and Corporate Correspondence

For investor relations, shareholder questions, corporate governance matters, or board-related correspondence, use Xcel Energy’s investor relations and corporate governance resources. The Board of Directors communication route is not the best path for normal billing, outage, or customer-service complaints, but it may be relevant for formal governance concerns.

Fraud and Scam Warning for Xcel Energy Customers

If you are unsure whether a message is real, hang up or close the message and contact Xcel Energy directly through the official website or a verified phone number.

Xcel Energy Late Charge Issue

October 18, 2024

Xcel Energy, No Help to Seniors. I’m saddened by this situation. I’m currently waiting for a call from an Xcel Energy supervisor, hoping they can assist, but I understand that rules are rules. However, I need help because I don’t want to keep receiving late charges due to being on a fixed income with Social Security. The policy of only waiving one late fee per year is really hurting me and other seniors. I’m speaking not only for myself, but also on behalf of other seniors who are facing the same issue.
