Fidelity, 10 Day Settled Funds Policy. If you send money to Fidelity to fund your account, Fidelity is now holding and using your money for 10+ days before you get settled funds. Stay away, especially day traders, or look to join another brokerage that respects your money. Do not reward Fidelity.

Fidelity Frustrating Cold Call Issue

Fidelity, Brokerage Account Locked. Approximately 2weeks ago I received a cold call from a person representing himself as a Fidelity representative.The individual stated their was suspicious activity in my account with large amounts of money being moved around.I responded he must have the wrong account as mine was dormant. I immediately thought of this being a scam call as he continued to ask for detailed and personal activity. I hung up the phone and called into Fidelity on the customer service number and asked the representative if Fidelity had tried to call me,this was affirmative after checking.I don’t remember then if I called the first caller back or if he called again,the call originated from Texas.The representative continued along the same lines aggressively asking for persons names and reasons for transferred funds on Venmo by this time I was on the defensive and agreed to give him the name of my daughter to whom I had transferred $200 dollar’s to. This didn’t satisfy him and he wanted all names and reasons for charges. All during this call my domestic partner of 9 years was listening to the call on speaker phone as I’m 73 and hard of hearing.At this time the representative was aggressive and I felt acting in a manner unappreciated by myself and my partner she advised he to hang up which I did.When I tried to use my account to pay for groceries on the 20th of this month I learned my account was locked. This brokerage account is the recipient of my social security check,my only income. So this representative reported my account to Fidelity fraud team and locked my only source of income. Best I can determine my account has been locked for close to 2 weeks. I’ve been using Venmo for about a year and have had 57 actions either receiving funds from my partner or paying her back for groceries purchases and such domestic things as we share costs and keep separate accounts. Other than those actions I pay the Maris where my boat is and rent to a sub lease slip for same Apparently Fidelity believes this is fraudulent activity and locked my account for the past 2 weeks and is still locked. Ive called in at least 3 times to representatives asking what is going on they will not give me a time when my account will be unlocked. On Monday the 24 I will call corporate headquarters and talk to them, futher I will file a report online with the Attorney Generals Office in the State Of Washington and try to have a conversation with them.
