Good Day,
A couple months ago, two books were sent to Chegg by mistake. As soon as it was realized, I contacted Chegg support and was told the books would be returned when the warehouse found them. It was explained to me that when books arrived, they were scanned and if they are returns, my account is credited. If they are not returns, it is assumed that I want to sell the books to Chegg. Since all books are scanned when they are returned this seemed logical to me.
A couple weeks ago, I got one of the two books returned in mail. The other had not arrived, so I used the online chat and asked for a status. I was informed the missing book could not be found and and I had only one option at this point. that was to puchase a the book from Chegg, then be refunded half of that price. While this may make sense to the customer service folks, it does not to me.
It would seem that either my missing book was not scanned, as it should have been, and then someone kept it or it is sitting somewhere in the warehouse, or it is in the system and I am due payment for it.
Amazon rental is looking for $94.16 for the book, at this point.
During the course of my chat, I asked that Chegg provide a letter stating they cannot find the book so that I can send it to Amazon in hopes of getting some sort of break on the cost of not getting the book back from Chegg.
I also asked for the Corporate Office mailing address and was told the information was not available and it could not be provided to me. Of course, a simple Google search was all that was needed, so I find it very unprofessional that the chat agent could not provide the info to me. Clearly an effort to make my complaint harder to send and very poor treatment of a customer in a bad situation.
At this point, it appears that Chegg has the missing book (all incoming books are scanned) and is not willing to pay for it or to return it to me. This will cost me almost $100 and is very sad indeed.
I've used Chegg many times and unfortunately our relationship will be ended by this experience and as a Grad Student, I'll be sure to let my friends know how I was treated in this situation.
Very sad for all concerned that the policies and decisions of the manager on duty and frontline agent got us to this point.
Respectfully,

I rented books from them, and they sent me the wrong book. I tried to call and fix it, and the assistant said that she ordered me a new book, and no such book ever came. I called AGAIN to fix it, was on hold for about a half hour, only for them to tell me it is out of stock and there is nothing I can do. I tried to talk to a supervisor but there were none available. Absolutely horrible. Chegg needs to learn that a fundamental in business is to be responsive to their public. They are not, and will therefore have a very hard time succeeding as a business.
I recently noticed a charge for $16.24 that has been charged from September 2015 when my son purchased a book for college. He was automatically enrolled for a free subscription and because we did not know about it we were charged monthly for over a year. This is bad business practice. It is a scam on your customers. You stole almost $200.00 dollars off of me. He never used this subscription. You never checked if he was using this subscription to see if it was a mistake so you could cancel it. We used your company in good faith and you used us in a bad way.
Unless you refund my credit card I will report you to the better business bureau, tell all of my friends you are thieves, and put your company down any chance I get. Also, I will never purchase another book from you. I have three children in college and I order a lot if books. Lastly, I am contacting your investors. You lost a customer. Wouldn’t you rather make money off actual sales? Wouldn’t you want happy customers? I am not following this reasoning. How do you rationalize stealing off valuable customers? We never used that subscription. I am not even sure what it is exactly for.
I want a refund.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!ORDERED A BOOK FOR $275. GOT A EMAIL 20 MINUTES LATER SAYING THEY DONT HAVE THE BOOK AND ARE NOT GETTING IT.THEY TOOK MY MONEY WITHIN 1 MINUTE AND MAIN OFFICE SAID IT WILL TAKE 3-5 DAYS TO GET REFUND. PRICE MAY LOOK GOOD BUT GO WITH A REAL COMPANY. THANK GOD FOR AMAZON!!!GOT BOOK DELIVERED ON SUNDAY.
Chegg is a rip-off. I got a quote to sell my book. I accepted it and checked off "mail me a paper check" I get an email stating they've credit my account 7 days later. When I call to tell them this is a mistake I'm told they can convert it over to a check for a 15% fee. I will never use or recommend them again. I asked for corp. number & was told they can't give it out.
