Republic Services Disppointing Customer Service

November 21, 2024

Republic Services, Bad Company, Bad Management—Negative 10 stars. I have a business dumpster- and received a call from Republic about a new rate because I said it was too high to keep it. The lady said sure we will go back to your original rate from 2 years ago….I said great, and that was it. Get my bill next month and it was same price, called again—got a call back from management and told her I could not afford this amount. She said the lady who called me from Republic did not know how the fees are calculated (ok its still too high)…so the bottom line at this point was as I told the manager in Columbia SC was come pick up the dumpster—to her reply was we will have to liquidate your account…which hit me out of right field. I never signed any document—you put your dumpster on my property—i pay you a rental and collection fee and all the refresh fees (in two years never got a working dumpster, but FYI you have To Request It) ———–I told her I will not pay another dime—come get your dumpster it is up front waiting—-since then no call back from anyone at this Horrible Company—but I get notices that pickup is on the way….the driver even knows I have no trash in it, but he has come the last 2-3 times and now I see they are wanting him to come again tomorrow—–I even told lady I will bring the dumpster to you—-I want it Gone Today.

Republic Services Poor Business Practices

September 24, 2024

Republic Services, As a long-time customer of Republic Services, I am appalled by the customer support that you provide. Two months ago, I called what I thought was my local office of Republic and discovered that I was talking to someone in an office (not my local one) and explained that I wanted to obtain a dumpster to remove trash caused by a recently flooded basement. The person I talked to then transferred me to an office in Las Vegas, as this supposedly is the only office that handles dumpsters and roll-offs for Republic. I talked with the representative and told her what I wanted, and before I could make arrangements, someone would have to come out and inspect my property. We concluded our conversation, and she indicated that someone would contact me. After a month of waiting for that contact, I called what I thought was my local Republic Services office, and once again, I was connected to an office 200 miles away.

I told this person I wanted to talk to someone from the local office, but he said all calls were randomly answered. I told the individual I talked to what I wanted. He told me he would have to transfer me to the office that handled the dumpsters, which was in Las Vegas.

He transferred me to the Las Vegas office, and once again, I told the lady I talked to the whole story of my adventures with Republic Services up to that point. After telling her what I wanted, she quoted me a price for a four-yard dumpster. She said the dumpster would be delivered to me the following Monday. But first, a local representative would have to come out and inspect my property. Monday came and went without a dumpster or a representative to inspect my property. After being rebuffed twice over the phone, I went to the local office to talk to someone face-to-face. The man I talked to said that he would check to see what was going on, but he had to wait for some clerical staff to return from somewhere and that she would resolve the issue. After two weeks, I am still waiting for someone from my local office. And now another issue. I recently purchased some new furniture, and I needed to dispose of all my old furniture. Once again, I called the local number, and I got someone at some office ( I didn’t bother to ask where she was) and asked if Republic Services provided pick-up for the old furniture, and she said that they do. I asked what I had to do, and she said that I would have to bring the furniture to the street. I explained that I lived on a large lot, and it was just under a quarter mile up a long driveway to the house. Since the items that I wanted to be picked up were a sofa and a loveseat, there was no way I could take them to the street. Would the pick-up people come up the driveway to collect the items? I was told that she would have to check with her boss and she would get back to me. It has been six days, and I’m still waiting to hear back. What type of business do you run? I know it’s one that apparently doesn’t consider customer service as a prerequisite for doing business. I can’t believe that I have been ignored by Republic Services’ employees, not once but on at least seven separate occasions. I am addressing this email to you in the hope of resolving the issue, but I lack confidence that this is possible, as previous responses have indicated. I wonder if your CEO, Mr Jon Vander Ark, is aware of Republic Services customer service? He’s next on my list if there isn’t an amendable resolution to my issues.

Republic Pricing Issue

September 19, 2024

Republic, We have been a customer for 25 years, we just got our recent bill and we paid for the whole year and it was $857. Now the bill would be $1003 for residential. Our neighbors paid $149, and $109 quarterly. When we called about wondering why we got no answer, we said can you lower it, they finally called us back and said they could lower it to $857, ridiculous!!!! We told others of our problem with Republic and we know others who will also go with another company because of this. Now they want us to pay $40 to come and pick up their can. Just wow!
