Maverik Utah Excellent Customer Service

October 7, 2024

Maverik, Location Supervisor Boise Cole & Ustick Rd. I want to express my compliments to the leadership and staff at this location. I have been a long-time customer and have visited many locations here and in Utah. I believe the employees at this location are the best I have ever seen. They have learned my name and always greet me by name. They are known for their smile and friendly service. I have learned that the supervisor will be moving to another location in Nampa. They will be lucky for the change.

I just wanted to let you know how I feel. Keep up the good work. P.S. Pay them well. Your long-time customer, P.S. If I am elected as a State Senator, you can count on me for appropriate support.

Maverik Customer Service Issue

October 6, 2024

Maverik, To whom it may concern, Maverick has clearly misseducated its employees on the difference between the law and company policies with regard to alcohol and tobacco sales. Many of your employees at many locations solicit that it is “the law” to scan federal identification cards. This is neither a state law nor a federal law. Yet your employees consistently insist that it is, from store to store. Furthermore, coercing customers to allow you to data mine them by scanning ID cards, is a breach of the 4th amendment of the constitution without the property authority and a warrant. Your employees have no legislative, judicial, or executive power, and therefore should not be professing the law, enforcing law, or making up what the law is, to customers from behind the counter, especially when they’re blatantly incorrect about what the laws they’ve clearly never even read, actually say. The only law on the books that you are required to enforce with regard to the customer is to verify they are of legal age to purchase controlled substances. If you think there are laws that state you must scan federal identification, then please respond with a legal citation of said law(s), else acquiesce. Verification of legal age, within the bound of the law, merely consists of collecting the date/year of birth of the customer, and verifying that the identification card is not expired in the process. Yet, your employees never even look at the information on the card. Instead they just insist that it’s “the law” to scan it and hand it back. Furthermore, age verification is only required if the customer Looks younger than 30 years old, yet they enforce your data mining policy to scan identification cards against everyone of all ages, regardless of what the law states. Understand that your store policies do Not override state or federal law, nor are you law makers yourselves. So, I highly suggest you stop acting like lawmakers, stop giving [bad] legal advice to your customers, and retrain All of your employees and management on the actual law and how it differs from your company policies.
