Optum Goodyear AZ Disappointing

February 12, 2025

Optum, Unprofessional and Inaccurate Medical Care. I am filing a formal complaint regarding a recent appointment with Dr. Richelle Radzykewycz at Optum, located at 3090 N. Litchfield Rd. Suite 20, Goodyear, Arizona. During the visit, the patient had come in to review recent blood test results. He is a type 2 diabetic and has been diligently working to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. However, from the beginning of the appointment, Dr. Radzykewycz was dismissive and showed little empathy. When asked about the timing of the blood test, it was explained that there had been a delay due to a family bereavement and that the test was completed promptly upon returning to Arizona. Instead of understanding, she stated that there was no excuse not to have had it done elsewhere, displaying a lack of compassion. Throughout the appointment, Dr. Radzykewycz was rude and unprofessional. She incorrectly claimed that blood sugar levels were “extremely high” when they were at 119, a normal range for a type 2 diabetic. She also insisted that cholesterol levels were dangerously high, despite the results indicating they were within the normal range. Additionally, she berated the patient about his weight, warning that without weight loss, he would end up on dialysis or even face fatal consequences. She then prescribed multiple medications, including one the patient is allergic to, without discussing potential side effects or alternatives. Her behavior escalated further when the patient became emotional due to her treatment. Rather than responding with care, she insisted that he see a psychiatrist. She also had an endocrinologist contact him with incorrect information, falsely reporting an A1c level of over 11.0 when his actual reading was 8.4, and blood sugar levels over 300 when they were much lower. When questioned, the endocrinologist reviewed the records and realized that Dr. Radzykewycz did not have the correct patient chart in front of her during the appointment. This level of negligence and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. A medical provider should offer accurate information and compassionate care, not baseless scare tactics or dismissive behavior. When concerns were raised, Dr. Radzykewycz refused to listen and stated that if the patient did not follow her exact instructions, he should not return. Optum should review this matter seriously, as such treatment is both unprofessional and potentially harmful to patients.

Optum Frustrating Request Issue

January 30, 2025

Optum, Request for Out-of-Network Approval. Optum, you have already spent thousands of dollars on my wife’s medical care without getting any answers. Instead of continuing to waste resources, why not approve an out-of-network consultation at the Mayo Clinic? She has been admitted to nearly every hospital in Las Vegas, yet no one has been able to diagnose her condition.

Your financial team knows exactly how much her ongoing hospital visits and rehab stays are costing. A one- or two-day consultation at Mayo would likely be far more cost-effective than repeated hospitalizations. It’s clear that the current providers cannot determine what’s wrong, and a PA simply does not have the level of training or expertise needed for this complex case. I have already spoken with ArchWell, and they believe this request will be denied. If that happens, it will only result in continued hospital visits, which you will ultimately have to cover. My wife is in severe pain, has already suffered multiple falls, and if she falls again and sustains a serious injury, the consequences could be life-threatening. She has already experienced concussions that have impacted her mental abilities. This should not be about cutting costs at the expense of proper care. A short-term investment in the right medical expertise will save money in the long run. I urge you to reconsider and approve this request before further harm occurs.

Optum Frustrating Customer Service Issue

December 6, 2024

Optum, I’ve spent seven frustrating days trying to refill a critical medication—unsuccessfully. I attempted every method: online, chat, and phone. After waiting 40 minutes on hold yesterday (12/5), I was transferred to the specialty pharmacy, where the representative failed to escalate my call as requested. Instead, she repeated unhelpful phrases like “I’m trying to resolve this” without addressing my issue. When I asked for clarity, she hung up on me instead of finding someone who could help. Afterward, I tried again online and thought I received a confirmation. However, when I checked today, there’s no record of my order—no status, no denial, nothing. I’ve had to repeatedly update my insurance information, and I’m left with what feels like a meaningless order number. This is a time-sensitive medication, and your process is unacceptable. Please prioritize helping customers like me who rely on your service for essential medications.

They are not applying my money to my account and are constantly bringing it to my attention when I go to my appointments that I have a balance of over $300.00. as well as sending my statements. My balance would be current if they would apply my payment. I have e-mailed billing three times asking for a refund. If you are not going to apply my payment refund me my money. This is Ridiculous!!!
