Perry Homes Marvida Neighborhood

February 26, 2025

Perry Homes, Ongoing Construction Issues in Marvida Neighborhood. I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the ongoing construction-related disruptions in the Marvida neighborhood, including road blockages, excessive noise, debris left in the streets, and repeated disregard for residents’ property and well-being. The quality of life in Marvida has been significantly diminished due to these ongoing nuisances, making daily living unnecessarily stressful. On the morning of February 26, 2025, the roadway leading to my home was completely blocked due to construction activity, preventing traffic from passing. As a result, I received a voicemail from my son’s school transportation department stating that I had to take him to school myself since the special needs bus could not get through. When I reached out to Garrett Andrews regarding this issue, he dismissed my concerns, claiming he had been directing traffic all morning. However, my experience contradicts this assertion. Garrett was nowhere to be found when I left to drop my son off at school or when I returned, and I had to wait over 10 minutes for the roadway to be cleared before I could get through. I was only able to pass after holding my horn down to get the workers to clear enough space.

Additionally, I raised a critical safety concern regarding emergency vehicle access. Upon measuring the available roadway space, I found that the clearance between the concrete truck and the curb was only 8 feet 11 inches. A standard school bus is 9 feet wide, and a fire truck is 10 feet wide, meaning that emergency vehicles would not have been able to pass safely, if at all. Mr. Andrews dismissed this concern as well, despite the clear safety hazard. Beyond the road blockage, I have also experienced ongoing disturbances due to contractors playing loud music starting early in the morning and continuing until as late as 6-8 PM, depending on their work schedule. The volume and duration of this noise are highly disruptive, particularly for those who work from home or have young children. Additionally, contractors frequently saw materials in the middle of the street, leaving behind debris that creates both safety hazards and inconvenience for residents. Loose construction materials and dust contribute to hazardous road conditions, and the lack of cleanup efforts is unacceptable. The issues with construction disruptions are not new. When the house next to mine was under construction, my driveway was repeatedly blocked by construction vehicles, despite the fact that I was nine months pregnant at the time. This was extremely concerning, as I could have needed to leave at a moment’s notice for a medical emergency but would not have been able to do so. Additionally, during that time, I experienced multiple instances where contractors used my water without permission and regularly threw trash into my yard. To make matters worse, at one point, the contractors even took a nap on my fence. I called Perry Homes to report the incident, only to be met with dishonesty—contractors denied the claim, despite the fact that I had taken a picture before they moved. This blatant disregard for private property and truthfulness is unacceptable. These persistent issues have made living in Marvida frustrating and inconvenient. The continued disruptions, safety hazards, and lack of accountability by Perry Homes and its contractors have significantly reduced the quality of life in this neighborhood. Residents should not have to deal with daily obstructions, excessive noise, and disrespect for their property simply because new homes are being built. I request that Perry Homes take immediate action to address these issues by ensuring: 1. Proper traffic management during construction activities to prevent road blockages and ensure emergency vehicle access at all times. 2. Reasonable noise control measures, including restrictions on loud music during early and late hours. 3. Adequate cleanup procedures to remove debris from the streets after work is completed. 4. Clear communication with contractors regarding respect for residents’ property, including prohibiting unauthorized use of utilities, improper disposal of trash, and inappropriate behavior such as resting on private property.

5. Accountability and transparency when residents report legitimate concerns. Please confirm receipt of this email and inform me of the steps Perry Homes will take to resolve these concerns. The ongoing issues are unacceptable, and I expect a prompt resolution.
