Safeco Disappointing Claim Issue

February 6, 2025

Safeco, Adjuster claim issue. All the homes around me got a new roof because of hail, so I had the guy doing my neighbors roof come look at mine. He claimed I had hail damage, so I called Safeco and they sent out Timothy Wiemers. I told my wife to have him look at my Roof because I don’t trust roofers. He came out and said I did not have damage and he would send a report. I said great because I really did not want a claim. I get his report and he writes up stuff I never asked him to look at and would never have claimed. Vent cap on furnace, flashing at chimney, down spout. now I have a claim on my insurance for $1049.96. my deductible is $2500 and now they raised my insurance over $1000.00 a year.

Safeco DIsappointing Claim Issue

January 16, 2025

Safeco, Claim paid with depreciation taken out and it was for replacement of an existing stone mailbox. Someone ran over and destroyed our stone mailbox with their truck. We purchased a new mailbox, and stone address template and then paid for the mason to rebuild our mailbox. It cost a little over $1,000. The insurance company said the claim was settled and it was short $101. I asked why, and the agent said ” the item is subject to depreciation due to normal wear”… So, because someone ran over our stone mailbox and we have to replace it with a new mailbox, we only get the amount that it cost minus the depreciation? I also asked if we get back that other $100 when we complete the job, and the agent said no. So I have to pay $100 for my mailbox that was fine a few days ago because it has depreciation which is not correct. I get that it is only $100. It is the point that I am upset about and the way I have been treated by the agent.
