Budget Disappointing Experience

Budget, This was a very disappointing experience! I made a flight and rental car for my husband and tried to make his overnight trip smooth. His brother was passing in hospice and he needed to get a car and drive 4 hours up from Detroit. The hurry was he didn’t want to miss seeing him, before his passing. The return flight and car is the next day. He had a flight delay due to ice! Then went to Budget to get car, started driving away realizing there was an engine light on. Also no navigation system. I made the arrangements and no one offered him option at Budget. No one looked at car before he got in it, obviously. What a waste of his time. Who rents a car to a customer with an Engine Light On? Very Disappointing!

Budget Disappointing Experience

Budget, Unsafe vehicles. My Rating is a Zero-not a 1-I will never use Budget again. We rented a vehicle on 03/11/25-a midsize suv was requested, like a Rav4, we were given a 2024 Genesis GV80-this to me was an upgrade and it was appreciated it. When we arrived to our designated state, we started to have issues. The dashboard was flickering and disappearing on us. We had no fuel level and could not see our speed. After some googling, there was a recall on that model. So, I called and they found us a replacement vehicle. We had to drive for a total of 2.5 hours to exchange. The exchange vehicle a Hyundai Tucson, that needed an oil change. When I told the representative she said it was fine and they forgot to reset it. We left. Later I looked at the oil change sticker and sure enough, it was 10,000 miles over due for an oil change. We ended cutting our trip short as we were not about to exchange another vehicle. When we returned the car, we found out that they charged us $209.00 for less than 3/4 of fuel, as we drove out of our way to exchange the vehicle, so we did not fill the tank, as we just filled it. The rep did take the charge off for our inconvenience. I also called customer service and they credited us 2 days, since we returned on Friday instead of Sunday. I then asked to speak a supervisor about the recall and oil change. I was offered a 3 day voucher. I declined, so he gave about $50.00 off of my total of $640.00. I was told this is the best that he do. I’m sorry, but they put us in 2 unsafe vehicles, and our lives are worth $50.00. Bottom line-I Will Never Use Budget Again And I Am Putting This All Over Social Media. It will not allow me to upload the recall notice that was issued Feb. 19, 2025, but anyone can type in the plate number and it will come up, unless they took care of it. Basically the recall said unsafe to drive!!

Budget DIsappointing Lost and Found Issue

Budget, Don’t leave anything in the car!! If you leave anything in a Budget Rental Car you will never see it again. I am not sure who got my Sport Coat and kindle but after reporting them as left in the car 3 days ago the status of my lost and found report is still Pending. I don’t expect to ever see them again.

Budget Terrible Experience

Budget, This was my Worst Experience with Budget!!! If there was a Zero for Budget rent a car in Puerto Rico they would get it. I reserved a Nissan Pathfinder but of course they didn’t have any available, & I can understand that. so they gave me a Mazda SUV, When I picked up the car it was Dark in the Garage so I really didn’t look at the Interior, Big Mistake. The passenger seat was beyond filthy it was Filled with Feces yes, Feces, Food stains & Dried up mustard & ketchup stains that gave my Wife a Rash in Both Legs. She was Furious & didn’t want to get back in that car again. That RuinedMy Vacation, I will Never Patronize Budget Again!!!!!!

Budget Frustrating Charges

Budget, Ridiculous cleaning charges and ‘Let’s make a deal’ game to get them removed. Rented a car in Florida for 2 days for $135.00. It rained while we were there so obviously sand stuck to our shoes and therefore got into the car. We did not have a vacuum cleaner with us as we were on vacation. The car Did need to be vacuumed before being re-rented. This should be a Common requirement when renting a car in Florida. It should not have taken 20 minutes and should not have been above and beyond normal cleaning including vacuuming between rentals. You charged us$450!!!!!!on a $135 rental. This is price gouging and taking advantage of the customer!!! The car did not need to be Detailed!!!!!! After dealing with the customer service person, who I had to wait 30 minutes to call me back, it went from $$450 to $170 to $90 to $45. I offerred $26, which is 20% of the cost of the rental which is generous and Fair!!! I asked to speak with a manger and was told the manager was Too Busy to speak with me and I would have to call back on another day to speak with a manager. Guess what, it is not my fault the manager is Too Busy to speak with me. What a stupid game we are playing!! So I finally took the $45 offer because my time at that point is worth more than the money. My husband and I travel A Lot both for work and for pleasure. You can guarantee the next time we rent a car, which is often and often with Budget, we will no longer use Budget. I’d rather know up front what my charges are going to be and pay them and continue with my life than spend my Sunday playing let’s make a deal with a poor customer service person trying to make a living and a ‘manager’ who does not Have Time to speak with me.
