General Motors Disappointing Customer Service Experience

May 28, 2025

General Motors, Where’s the Loyalty to Loyal Customers? We are the current — and increasingly frustrated — owners of a 2024 Silverado LTZ that has been sitting at our dealership for over a month, waiting for a part to repair a transmission issue. Despite owning multiple new Silverados over the years, this experience has shown us how little customer loyalty seems to matter to GM. Your customer service agents have told us that it’s the dealership’s responsibility to acquire the back-ordered part — a part manufactured and distributed by GM itself. While the dealership has made every effort to assist us and has kept us informed, we’ve received almost no communication from GM directly. In fact, the only call we received from your customer service team came after several attempts on our part — and even then, the follow-up was non-existent. This is our fourth new Silverado, and had it not been for the pandemic, it would have been our fifth. We’ve been on a steady three-year purchase cycle, demonstrating our long-standing loyalty to the brand. That loyalty now feels completely unrecognized. We are aware that we’re not alone in this issue — a quick search online shows hundreds of thousands of similar complaints related to this very problem. Our case number is 9-15194356669, if anyone at GM is willing to stand behind their product and their customers. We expected better, and unless something changes quickly, we’ll be exploring other brands moving forward.

Suggested Solution: Escalate Your Case to GM Executive Customer Care: Contact the GM Executive Support team by calling 866-790-5600 or emailing socialmedia@gm.com. Include your case number, VIN, dealership info, and a brief summary like the one above. Ask the Dealership to Escalate on Your Behalf: Since your dealership has been helpful, ask them to escalate the parts issue directly with their GM District Parts Manager — they have access to internal escalation channels customers do not. Submit a Formal Complaint to the NHTSA:

If the delay is safety-related, consider filing a complaint at https://www.nhtsa.gov. Automakers often take notice when these issues are documented formally. Share on Social Media or GM Forums with Case Number: Posting your experience (professionally) with the case number on platforms like Twitter/X (@GM) or GMC forums may prompt a faster response from their corporate team.

General Motors Pontiac Replacement Part Issue

May 26, 2025

General Motors, 2008 Pontiac Torrent Liftgate Spoiler Replacement. I’m looking for a replacement part for the roof section of the liftgate spoiler on my 2008 Pontiac Torrent. I understand this part may no longer be readily available, but I truly need a solution. I’m 87 years old, on a fixed income, and can’t afford a new car. The vehicle only has 177,321 km on it and is in good condition otherwise, but I’m unable to sell or continue using it comfortably with the part missing. I’ve searched on eBay and asked around, but everyone gives me a different name for the part. Could you please clarify the correct name and offer guidance on alternatives or compatible parts?

Response from Corporate Office Headquarters

Possible Solutions: Correct Part Name: Based on your description, it sounds like you are referring to the Liftgate Spoiler or Upper Liftgate Molding. This part is mounted on the top of the rear hatch/liftgate and may be listed under various names like: Rear Liftgate Spoiler. Rear Roof Spoiler. Upper Liftgate Trim. Aftermarket Options: Try searching online auto parts stores or salvage yards using all three names above. Some websites to try include:Car-Part.com – A network of auto recyclers that may have used OEM parts. RockAuto.com – Offers new and aftermarket parts and sometimes discontinued inventory. PartsGeek.com – May have replacement or compatible parts for older vehicles. Compatible Parts: Ask a local mechanic or body shop if a spoiler from a Chevy Equinox (which shares a platform with the Torrent) from a similar model year might fit with some modification. This could open up more availability. Facebook Marketplace & Auto Forums: Post on local Facebook Marketplace, Pontiac owner forums, or even Reddit’s r/MechanicAdvice. Enthusiasts often have spares or good leads on where to find rare parts. Request Help from GM Customer Support: You can contact GM directly at 1-800-222-1020 and ask for support locating discontinued parts or approved substitutes.

General Motors Dexter Chevrolet Disappointing Experience

April 15, 2025

General Motors, Dexter Chevrolet way before signing was looking on line and said you have another key and FOB at the other dealer where the truck came from then we bought the GMC Denali and love the truck ,you can’t start the truck with just a key it stops the truck from starting and the horn blows, bottom line the dealer should not say you have something then fight for the key and FOB and end up with just a key! That is not good business. I am very disappointed and I retired from GM with 34 years and don’t get the family deal sorry but that’s not very good deal. Just very disappointed this is what I get for 34 years and I always buy my vehicles from GM, I Just Don’t Like The Way I Was Treated.
