Ymca Prescott – Serious Safety and Service Concerns. I’m writing to share a deeply concerning experience that highlights ongoing safety, communication, and customer service issues at the Prescott Ymca. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine suffered significant injuries after falling from a faulty stair stepper that lacked proper “step-off” safety supports. She slipped, was left hanging from the machine by her arm, and ultimately sustained a fractured shoulder and a torn meniscus. Shockingly, there were no staff members present in the room to assist her. Despite her efforts to report the incident and seek support for her medical expenses, the responses from staff — including trainers and leadership such as Aimee Blackwood — were dismissive and lacking in empathy. One trainer even argued with her about the equipment and staffing concerns instead of listening and taking responsibility. Months earlier, I canceled my own membership due to poor customer service. On one visit, I simply asked to purchase a day pass while my membership issue was sorted out. After being left waiting twice for over 10 minutes at the front desk, I expressed my frustration — only to be labeled as “rude” and denied service by a staff member named Wendy. Unfortunately, management seemed more interested in defending staff than resolving the issues. That lack of accountability has real consequences — especially in cases involving member safety. I’ve since joined Anytime Fitness, which has been cleaner, safer, more professionally staffed, and fully covered through my insurance. It’s disappointing to see this Ymca fall short of the values and standards that have defined the organization for generations. I hope leadership will take these concerns seriously for the sake of future members.

Ymca, Withdrawing a Membership fee but I’m not a member. I haven’t been a member for years. My adult child signed up for a membership and they started taking it out of my account. When I called they said they don’t delete any financial information and it was linked to my account. I was told they had it fixed. I requested a refund since it was an old bank account that we don’t use and can cause overdraft fees etc. I never received a refund and it’s still coming out of my bank account. This is the YMCA in Blair, NE. It’s unacceptable that the YMCA doesn’t delete financial information.

Ymca, Not happy right now! For some reason our TVs at the Cleveland TN Ymca, The TV’s are turned off and they will not let us watch FOX are anything else and none of the TVs work on the bikes. There has got to be a reason for this. Our fees pay for TVs during our exercise.

YMCA, South Shore YMCA in Staten Island. I’m a member of the South Shore YMCA in Staten Island and had a troubling experience involving my son. On a recent evening, he was mocked for his weight by unsupervised boys waiting for the basketball courts. This group has been an ongoing issue, leaving trash behind and displaying rude behavior, with prior complaints ignored by management. When I raised the issue with the manager, Kaitlyn, her response was dismissive. She claimed the remarks were a “mistake” and ignored my suggestion to notify the boys’ parents. Instead, I was interrupted during my class to complete a meaningless report. The focus was on policy rather than addressing the bullying behavior. As a parent and community member, I am appalled by the lack of concern and leadership. Bullying should never be tolerated, and management must be trained to handle such situations appropriately. No one should feel targeted or unsafe at your facility.

Terrible communication and account help! They’ll take your money and keep taking your money even after the fact. Bad business, just bad business!!!
