How to Escalate a Dillard’s Complaint

Begin with the store manager when the issue concerns an in-store purchase, return, pricing problem, employee interaction, or store service.

For an online transaction, contact Dillard’s Customer Service and select the appropriate category on the online form. Keep the confirmation showing that the complaint was submitted.

Explain what occurred, provide the relevant dates, and state the resolution being requested. Ask the representative to document the complaint and provide any available reference number.

For a substantial matter that remains unresolved, written correspondence may be sent to:

Dillard’s, Inc.
1600 Cantrell Road
Little Rock, AR 72201

Include the store or online order involved, previous support contacts, applicable policy, and requested resolution.

Send copies rather than original receipts, photographs, financial statements, identity documents, or legal records. Do not mail merchandise to corporate headquarters unless Dillard’s provides specific return instructions.

Dillard’s Return and Exchange Complaints

Dillard’s current policy generally allows eligible merchandise to be returned within 30 calendar days.

Store-purchased merchandise generally must remain in original, unused condition, include the original proof-of-purchase label, and retain the merchandise tags.

Some merchandise is not returnable, including certain clearance items marked down 65% or more, merchandise sold with an additional percentage discount, personalized products, and other items identified as final sale.

Before disputing a return decision, preserve:

  • The original receipt
  • The Dillard’s proof-of-purchase label
  • All merchandise and manufacturer tags
  • The original packaging
  • The product listing or promotional language
  • The date the item was purchased or delivered

A store manager may apply the written return policy even when the item was a gift or the deadline was missed by only a short period. A public comment does not extend the return period or create an approved exception.

Online Order, Cancellation, and Delivery Complaints

Online-order complaints may involve cancelled merchandise, unavailable inventory, delayed shipping, missing items, damaged products, duplicate shipments, or difficulty cancelling an order.

Dillard’s may source merchandise from different stores or facilities. An item can become unavailable after an order is submitted, particularly during holidays or promotional events.

Check Order Status and preserve emails showing:

  • The original order
  • The order acceptance or processing status
  • Any cancellation notice
  • The tracking number
  • The amount charged or refunded

Contact Customer Service promptly when cancelling. Once merchandise enters processing or shipping, cancellation may no longer be possible.

When a package arrives empty, damaged, or missing an item, retain the box, shipping label, packing materials, and photographs until Dillard’s or the carrier provides instructions.

Citibank issues and manages the Dillard’s Credit Card and Dillard’s Mastercard.

Dillard’s Credit Cardmembers can call 1-833-773-0029. Dillard’s Mastercard cardmembers can call 1-833-773-0031.

Dillard’s Employee, HR, and Applicant Questions

Dillards Disappointing & Frustrating Return Experience

January 22, 2025

Dillards, Unable to return Christmas gift… staff very rude and manager couldn’t be bothered. I received a gift of a leather jacket for Christmas. I attempted to exchange it for one size bigger and was told it was past the 30 day return period (by 2 days). First I was told I couldn’t exchange it in the department so I went to customer service. They were rude and unhelpful. The woman there called a manager and that person couldn’t be bothered to even come speak with me. She hung up and said, he said no. Dillards has been my favorite place to shop for 30 years. I will never spend another penny in their stores. I cut up my card at their customer service counter and asked her to give that to the manager. I will shop at Macy’s from now on. Now I have an expensive leather jacket I cannot wear. Thanks for nothing, Dillards!!!!!

Dillard's Disappointing Order Cancelation Issue

December 11, 2024

Dillard’s cancelled 40 gifts I was purchasing online as gifts 13 days before Christmas!!!! I thought I was done with all shopping and 2 days later received a message that my order had been cancelled!!!!!!! I went to the store first and my local store did not have any of the items I wanted and they told me to order them online. Customer service was an utter joke. Store said they cannot help! I guess they will lose a 30 year customer to Nordstroms. Unbelievably Angry. You do Not mess with Christmas gifts! 🙁

Dillards Poor Customer Service

September 20, 2024

Dillards, Unable to exchange item. I recently purchased an item online and it did not fit. I was told I could not exchange it because it was a final sale. I did not ask for a refund, just exchange which I would have probably spent more. Now I’m stuck with a dress that I cannot wear. Seem like very poor customer service.

Dillards Friendswood TX

December 13, 2022

On 5/6/23 I was in the Dillards at the Baybrook Mall in Friendswood, Texas shopping for baby items. I was interested in a baby monitor but it did not have a price. I asked the sales associate for the price. The price would not come up for her. She tried to call her manager but she was at lunch. So the associate went to ask another manager and was given the price of 149.00. I bought the item. When I got home and opened the box and it was empty.

So on 5/7/23 I went back to the store. When I pulled the box out and said the item is not in the box, she said the sales associate has to get the product. She also advised the price should have been 399.00 so she would have to return my money and ring it up at the correct price. I said I did not want a refund, just the product. She, her name was Sharmar, said she would not give me the product so I requested she get a manager. The manager she spoke to was Lori, who never came to the department, told her on the phone to not give me the product. While I told her I did not want a refund, only the product, she said I did not have a choice and she refunded the transaction to my card. I did not approve or sign anything. She filled out the requested information that is supposed to be filled out by the customer.

The mistake was by the sales associates and it is absolutely an unethical was to do business. I would hope this complaint get a response since no one at the store location will take care of this.
