  • I am a professional Tax Preparer and I am disgusted with the TAXACT PROFESSIONAL HELP LINE.
    1. The have NEVER called me back so I have had to wait on line, right now have been waiting for over 3 hours. When I do get a live voice they know nothing about doing taxes and say they have to transfer me, sending me back to the waiting que or to the Tech or Sales Departments who put me back in the queue.
    This is terrible.
It is a nice user friendly program, but with out any support it is no good.
The worst is they advertise they only hire EAs or CPAs and then when you get through to a live voice and tell them your problem you find out the "Help" person is a temp from an agency – just answering the phone and putting the person back into the queue.

  • I've been a long-time user of your product and have found it to be both user-friendly and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, in my humble opinion, I can say neither regarding this year's product. I want to inform you that, in attempting file both the federal and state returns, I obviously inadvertently selected your protection membership. TaxAct has made significant changes to their software that has made it very cumbersome to file one's returns. After completing both returns, I constantly found myself repeating the same steps multiple times in an effort to avoid purchasing products that I didn't want. As a result, I wasn't unable to file electronically and had no choice but to print both returns for mailing. In doing so, I was charged $109.72 (order no. OL21-11054000) to print federal return and $58.25 (OL21-11054000-3) for the state return. Being charged a total of $167.97 for both returns, considering I did not request your protection plan nor was I able to e-file, is totally unconscionable.

I just rec'd notice from TaxAct that they don't support a California Schedule I am required to file. How can this be?????… see below please.

    Dear TaxAct® Customer,

TaxAct does not support the California Form 3840; you can click HERE for more information on the form which also includes links to the form itself for you to complete on your own.

Thank you for using TaxAct. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  • I e filed an S corporation return on March 1, 2019 and paid you $119.98. To date I cannot find any information for my return>…is it e filed? did it go through>> your e file status can't find it. This is craziness what kind of business are your running. This is important stuff. Today I called your only phone number I can find and you are TOO busy to help anyone. Horrible service. Either return my money or help me find my e-filed Federal & State Return. On Monday I will contact IRS and my state to hopefully get a good contact number for your business. • Would some one please answer your phone lines… you have what… 4 different nunbers. and yet what you charg to use your sevice, that claims to be free, you cannot afford to pay a phone operator??? really

  • Bought H & R Home…. 2017 for $19.99 today from Amazon. 2nd year not using Taxact and most likely will not be back at their over priced product……

  • DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE!!! Been on hold for days!!! There is no support as suggested in the purchase price and inquiries to their corporate offices lead to a recursive DEAD END!! WHAT A SCAM!!!

  • I am an unhappy user of Tax Act. Have used for years, since I live in C.R. When I did my return, there was an error in your program, which caused me to receive over double the refund I should have had. There was no way for me to correct it. Support is pretty much non existent. Probably because lot's of people had the same problem. So I went on Turbo Tax Free edition and went thru their process. I receive the correct figures and I had to fill out a 1040x and send back the excess refund I received. Thanks for nothing
