Barnes and Noble, Is mailing a gift card such a process? On May 15 I placed an on-line order (order No. 41642628078) for a $50 graduation gift card, thinking it would reach the recipient by her 5/22 graduation date. I was sent an email on 5/17 telling me the card’s expected delivery date is 5/22. That date passed and a subsequent inquiry changed the expected delivery date to 5/27. A call to your customer-service number connected me with a “English is not my primary language” man who could tell me nothing about the status of the gift. I am really disappointed that a simple mailing of (for me) a substantial gift has been bungled and the effect of the gift long after the event is diminished. I hoped to encourage this graduate’s efforts. I have shared my disappointment with others and I doubt I ever will shop with your company again.

Barnes and Noble Disappointing Unresolved Online Order

Barnes and Noble, Terrible customer service. I recently purchased a book online, as a gift for a friend. Upon checkout, I was given an order number, but never received a confirmation email with a tracking number. When I attempted to find out whether the package had been delivered, I got an error message saying I’m not authorized to view that information. So I tried to find resolution to the problem using their online chat option. The first associate I got asked for some info, said she’d wait while I looked it up, and then left the chat. So I tried to call, and was told that even though I had all of the order information and can prove that I was the one who placed the order, the Only verification they would accept is whatever wrong email they somehow had, even though I had a prior verification sent to my proper email. C’mon! It’s not like I’m asking for nuclear codes, I just want to know if the package was delivered, yes or no. It really should not be that difficult. So I will probably never know whether my order made it to its destination. But I do know I won’t give Barnes and Noble any further business.

I was assured payment within 30 days of receipt, but despite waiting, I have yet to be paid. Now, I’m getting the runaround instead of the $39,000 I’m owed. Their handling of this situation raises serious concerns about their business practices.
