Midas Overcharge & Check Engine Light Issue

February 19, 2025

Midas, Check engine light. I took my car to Midas on 71st Stony Island. I ended up putting some of the payment on my Midas card. I ended up getting Koalifi ($8000.00).my check engine light is still on and I took it back and they want to charge me another $3500.00. I shouldn’;t have to pay another penney to get my check engine light off. I have been summand to take a vehicle emission test, which I’ve been told will not pass the test.

Midas Cathedral City CA Disappointing

February 4, 2025

Midas, Midas of Cathedral City California. I took my Camaro to Midas in Cathedral City California due to excessive shaking and assuming I would need an alignment. Well not so, due to a bent rim and uneven where I required two new tires, a new rim, in addition to the balance and alignment. Ok, I get that’s, my fault. Forked over almost $3,000.00. Within a couple weeks I noticed what sounded like squealing tire when turning. Called Midas and was told it sounded like I had thrown off my alignment and to bring it back in but to be careful. I live in a remote area in California and Midas was about 100 miles away. I drove as little as possible for the couple days until I could drive to Midas in Cat City. I had an appointment for 10 AM. I took my car in, turned in my key and took a seat. Not 20 minutes later, who I believe to be the manager, came in and asked me to follow him outside. He proceeded to tell me I had a ‘sticky wheel’ due to the two new tires. When questioned why the squealing started I was told “sometimes when you wash your car” (I hadn’t) “or when it rains” (it had) it can cause your tires to squeal. He said I drove it up the street to a round-about 10 times and everything is fine now. I questioned him why it felt like the rear of the car felt like it was pulling to one side and was told, “sounds like it could be a steering issue” and was handed my key and he walked away. While on the 100 mile drive home the car did the same thing, tires squealing, but worse and felt like I was fighting the car the whole way home. So I called Midas again on Monday only to be told that all the car racks were full the previous Saturday and to bring it back in. By now I had driven over 250 miles with car in condition it was. Of course they ignored my emails, calls, etc. So Tuesday I took it to a different mechanic in the town where I live and was told the tire bolts were loose on my rear left tire and will need Another new tire and Another Alignment costing an additional $600. Not to mention the way my car was fishtailing when accelerating on the drive home it certainly wasn’t safe. Do they care? What do you think.

Midas St. Charles IL

September 27, 2024

Dear Midas Auto Services, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a recent service I received at your location. On September 16, 2024, I paid $1,699 for an exhaust pipe, gasket, and oxygen sensor replacement for my 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The service was performed at one of your location (1502 W Main Street St. Charles IL 60174), and I trusted that the price and work quality would be up to Midas’s reputable standards. However, upon returning home to Cleveland, Ohio, I noticed a loud noise coming from my car. Concerned, I brought my vehicle to your Midas location at West 117th St in Lakewood, Ohio. To my dismay, the staff there informed me that I needed a new converter and quoted an exorbitant price of $2,600. This price seemed significantly inflated, so I sought a second opinion from my personal mechanic. My mechanic confirmed that I indeed needed a new converter but quoted me only $400 for the replacement. Additionally, he reviewed the previous work done and pointed out that I had been overcharged for the exhaust pipe, gasket, and oxygen sensor installation. This experience has left me deeply dissatisfied with both the pricing and service quality at Midas. I strongly feel that I have been taken advantage of and overcharged for basic services. I am requesting a full review and reimbursement of the inflated charges I incurred, as well as a fair resolution regarding the new converter. If this matter is not resolved promptly and satisfactorily, I will be left with no choice but to escalate the situation. I intend to take my complaint to social media platforms and, if necessary, contact local news outlets to inform the public of the unfair treatment and pricing practices I encountered at Midas. I hope we can resolve this matter quickly and professionally. I look forward to your prompt response.

Midas Tampa FL

The mechanic was awesome! I went to the Midas 315 N Dale Mabry, Tampa, Fl address to have new brakes put in. I made an appointment for 7:30am. Myself and the mechanic were outside waiting for the lazy manager to finally show up at 7:45, and then take 15 minutes to put the lights on. The manager said he did not have me down for an appointment but I know it was him on the phone the day before. The mechanic was Robert and he was fabulous! My car was finished at 9:40am ( because the manager had to order the parts!). Between 8:00am and 9:40am Robert completed 9 cars! Another lazy and loud manager arrives at 9:00am and another mechanic arrived at 9:30. Robert should be the manager of this location because he was moving at 100mph, not 10mph like the other 2!
