Consumer Cellular Disappointing Promotion Issue

February 24, 2025

Consumer Cellular, Promotion Not Honored After Switching to Consumer Cellular. I switched to Consumer Cellular from my long-time carrier because of a “Refer a Friend, You Both Get $50” promotion in November. I confirmed the promotion details with Candace, who set up my new account. Both my brother-in-law and I joined, and the first month’s billing in January showed a $10 credit on each of our accounts. However, February’s bill arrived with no credit. I contacted Customer Service and was told the missed credit would be applied for February and March. When I checked my March statement, there was still no credit. I reached out again and spoke with LaShay, who saw the pending credit but said she couldn’t honor the promotion because it had expired. I asked for a supervisor, and Michael joined the call. He confirmed that the initial $10 credit was labeled as a “referral credit” rather than the promotion credit, which caused the issue. However, he didn’t seem confident about resolving the problem and was vague about follow-up communication. I switched carriers because of this promotion, and I don’t believe it’s fair to lose the credit due to an internal coding error. I have spent a lot of time trying to resolve this issue, and I am disappointed with the lack of customer care. I plan to file complaints with the Attorney General’s Office, BBB, and FTC to ensure Consumer Cellular honors its advertised promotions.

Consumer Cellular Disappointing Customer Service

January 6, 2025

Consumer Cellular, Takes Days to get voice mail and auto reset emails. There is something afoot with their processing voice mail messages—takes 24 hours before they reach me. When requesting email to reset a password (this is true for all sites I’ve tried) the email never arrives.
