Dollar Rent A Car Charlotte NC Disappointing

November 19, 2024

Dollar Rent A Car Never Again. We had the worst experience with Dollar Car Rentals. Our rental car broke down near Dublin, Virginia and none of the Dollar or Hertz Car Rentals near us had cars available and one didn’t even answer their phones when reps (3 times) tried to call them. One rep we talked to wanted us to go to Charlotte Douglas International to get a different car and another offered one in Raleigh. Either place would have us traveling 2-3 hours back from where we came from. We finally ended up riding 3 hours out of our way to Richmond, in crowded tow truck cab to get a replacement vehicle and when I reported this to customer service, the demeaning and degrading response I received was, ” I would like to offer you the $50 monetary adjustment on your rental as compensation for your rental experience. Please confirm this offer so we can process the refund on your rental.” Never again will I rent from Dollar or Hertz.

Dollar Rent A Car Reversal Issue

May 2, 2024

It is with heavy heart that I write to still complain about the pending reversal of the $300 charges posted to my account by Dollar Rent A Car for a missing key that has been recovered since 3/21/24. Today is 2nd of May, six weeks after key recovery, yet no reversal entry has been posted to my account.

As an esteemed customer, I demand explanation for this unjust delay in the transaction reversal, despite charging toll fees to my account on two occasions since after the email of 3/25/24. Please see attached email trail, for failure to quickly address this complaint would attract further escalation to appropriate quarters. Awaiting your swift response, thank you. Dollar Rent A Car - I Would Give Zero Stars If It Was An Option.

December 29, 2023

First, the rental car was filthy – stained seats and crud crusted on the steering wheel. Second, I paid a deposit to Expedia and my total due at the car counter was just over $200. Instead, the dollar held over $1000 in my account for more than one week, and my final invoice shows I owe over $700 instead of $200 which I plan to contest with Expedia and dollar. Never again

Dollar Rent-A-Car Scam

December 13, 2022

My daughter hired [prepaid] a Volkswagen T-Roc through Dollar for our trip across northern Spain. On arrival at the airport in Santiago De Compostella she was advised the car was not available and to come back in two hours by the agent on the Hertz desk who should have also been representing Dollar.

When she came back she was advised that the Dollar rental cover for insurance was not appropriate and that it was highly recommended that she take out the Hertz policy for an additional Eur 638.88. After more than 30 minutes of discussion trying to understand why this was needed and why it was so much she relented and paid this additional amount so we could take the vehicle and move on with our holiday. This is highly suspicious and I think a bit of a scam and preying on unsuspecting tourists. Can you explain why this practice is allowed, is it part of Hertz’s policy to do this? We both felt like we had been scammed – what a way to start a holiday and pay out additional money for insurance because your sales agent was so persuasive. In addition, the amount included a fee for the return of the vehicle in Bilbao which had already been paid in the Dollar contract. I believe this was a sham and Lauren should have the whole amount refunded and the sales agent counseled in relation to this practice. He was more interested in representing Hertz and not the interests of Dollar. I’m sure this is not what you expect from your agents,

I look forward to your response.

Kind regards
