LA Fitness Customer Service Issue

April 21, 2024

Do not prioritize customers! First 6 weeks of my membership were great..it’s a newer place so it’s pretty clean. Issue I have is when something breaks it’s takes weeks or months to fix. steam room is a major reason why some of us go to the one in Washington twp , Michigan ..when it goes down there should be someone to come fix it within 48 hours not 3 weeks..I heard it was down for 5 months before I signed up there…the sauna has been down for 6 months because of a lawsuit with infrared. So why not just go back to the rocks? It’s not that difficult. If I wanted to just work out I would save lots of money and go to a planet fitness..few other minor issues. No weight scale in the locker room…need more wiping stations so we don’t have to walk across the gym to get wipes to clean station. maybe dryers in the locker rooms so our shorts are soaking wet when we put them back in our bags like lifetime has…steam rooms need a push button for steam instead of the heat knob. Everyone thinks it’s a timer and turn it and thats how it breaks.

LA FItness Disappointing Experience

January 31, 2025

LA Fitness, Long-term member notices degradation of experience. I have been a member of Chicago western suburban LA Fitness gyms for 5 years. I had also been a member of a central PA LAF gym and visited numerous times the Baton Rouge Esporta and others. Things that have gone downhill, in the Chicago area especially, include: 1. Decreased number of available gyms. Bolingbrook, Naperville LAF by the hotels, Oak Brook, the recent purchase of X-Sport and closure of the Carol Stream X-Sport have brought many more users to the remaining gyms. Even Sundays and Thursday nights are busy. 2. Sanitizing of equipment–during COVID-19 was constant by employees and by members. Now, the company has replaced spray bottles and paper towels by flimsy, 6″ wet papers that come off a dispenser that are only around the perimeter of the gym. Members often don’t bother to sanitize equipment they just finished using. 3. As another reviewer mentioned, too many members just sit on a piece of equipment (often one of a kind like the hip machines or a free-weight bench) using their cell phones. Last night, all 6? benches had several people using their cell phones or resting their free weights on while the rest of us had to wait. I used one of the hip machines, finished with a second machine, and had to remind a young man on the opposite hip machine using his phone that he needed to keep moving. In fact, I had to tell 3 males to keep moving as people were waiting. That should not be my responsibility–it is the gym’s. Same with dropping weights or banging the weights down on a machine. The managers need to oversee the gym and equipment. 4. Members sit in the hot tub and locker room using their cellphones. Hot tubs are for relaxing, not irritating, addictive cellphones especially with the volume up. Members would use cellphones in the sauna until the saunas were closed. 5. Portable quartz heaters warn to stay away from them. The saunas LAF bought and installed were designed to use the same heating system which begs the question of “who thought putting these heaters in a sauna would be a good idea?” Now, they are permanently closed leaving no saunas in the gyms which is not what I signed up for. LAF needs to replace them with traditional saunas.

6. Jan. 30, 2025–Carol Stream staff were busy trying to sell products in the main aisle. I could not even get the attention of the staff last night to complain directly. The front desk people were busy. 7. Require cellphones to be left in lockers or in the key lockers.

8. Add temporary storage carrells or racks (like the Signature gym in Westmont) by the workout equipment for people who drag their gym bags and coats around the workout equipment causing blockages and tripping hazards. Or encourage them to put them in lockers. 9. Add more group classes at lunch or after work at Carol Stream. Yoga, dance aerobics, water aerobics are suggestions. There are only 2 classes offered in the evenings–Zumba twice.

10. Women can be slobs–especially in the showers where long black hair and empty bottles are left in the stalls. Hair is frequently in the drain or even on the walls. One gym had to put up a sign prohibiting hair dyeing. Put a trash can near the shower entrance to help with this. 11. Replace equipment that is missing. Westmont never replaced the little floor sliders which are even in Esporta and Carol Stream despite requests. Carol Stream is missing weighted balls of 10 and 12 lbs. Where does the equipment from closed gyms go? Certainly, that could be recycled. 12. Provide us individually a list of rules/gym etiquette, have members sign it, and have the managers enforce them. I look forward to LAF making improvements rather than just buying out competition and letting their gyms go downhill.

LA Fitness Kirkland WA Equipment Issues

January 3, 2025

LA Fitness, Broken equipment. I frequent 5 LA Fitness locations. My main gym is Kirkland, WA which is a Signature Club. The manager is good, works hard, cares. But it appears that the corporate management could care less. This gym has far more broken down machines, which sit broken for weeks, machines that work have issues also. The other locations I go to have fewer broken machines and newer, better quality machines. The Kirkland location draws more people than the other locations, you would think that LA Fitness management would give more assistance to this gym. This is early January, so busy time, I watched an elderly woman try 3 different bikes and finally give up. Come on LA Fitness WA management, give this location some attention.

LA Fitness Brookhaven PA Disappointing

December 5, 2024

LA Fitness, Firing of the best trainer? I am disgusted at the firing of Mar, my trainer at the Brookhaven, PA branch of LA Fitness. He is well respected, competent, caring and loved by all. I have been seeing him for 2 years and he is the only reason that I attend training sessions. They have reduced the number of clients he was assigned to causing him to seek partime work elsewhere to supplement his income. They have not hired any trainers that were well qualified nor reliable. Other trainers they hire are there one day and don’t show up the next. Mar is always there and is always willing to help anyone that has a question or a problem. He was an asset to your organization. I refuse to sign up for another trainer especially since they can’t seem to find anyone as qualified as Mar. I was notified that I had a training appointment this past monday and when I went in there was no trainer there! They don’t have any available because they don’t have any, so why would you fire someone who is competent, well respected and reliable. Management is lacking, machines are not maintained and repaired in a timely manner so I would advise you to look into these problems at your Brookhaven, PA branch. I’m considering dropping my membership and others I have spoken to may do the same.

LA Fitness Port Jefferson NY

November 9, 2024

LA Fitness, Your Port Jefferson NY location in Suffolk County has had equipment out of service for months. All leather is ripped on many machines leg Bilateral curls and so on. Management complacent on fixing it. I’m ready to cancel unless this is addressed. Bathrooms dirty as well.
