Marriott Gold Elite Booking Issue

Marriott, Gold Elite means nothing. I booked 2 rooms at a hotel in PA. On my way home to see my daughter who was in the hospital. We arrived at midnight to find out they only had one room and 24 dirty rooms. They had no suggestion than to seek lodging elsewhere. We did that down the street. The Perks of being Gold Elite should have been they pay for our alternate lodging. Read The List Of Gold Elite Benefits. After many emails, they kept going off in other tangents and avoiding the question. Now I booked a villa and I can’t get the date changed. They are telling me to cancel the reservation and then rebook, but that there is a chance I could lose the location. They tell me to call a third party they booked it with. I didn’t book with them I booked thru my Gold Elite portal. Oh Well, so glad I booked thru Marriott Bonvoy. This is my second time booking a villa and they are not very clear that your going to deal with a third party too. Loyalty to a particular brand isn’t much of an advantage. Stay away from Marriott, it’s a bait and switch. I tried going the high road on this, they wore me out with non answers and no help.

Praise and Complaint

I own Marriott Maui Ocean Club (2 weeks) and Timberlodge at Lake Tahoe (2 weeks). The yearly fees for Maui just went up $1000 each week per year. I understand the devastation from the Lahaina fire, I am looking at it. However, putting the total cost for new plumbing on the backs of owners by raising our dues this much in this horrid economy is unjust and unnecessary. Marriott requires all dues to be paid at the same also, which creates an economic hardship on many of us. There should have been a discussion and vote by owners, not an unrepresented deep gouge by the raising of yearly maintenance dues this much. The Maui Ocean Club is beautifully maintained, the staff awesome and we know many from our years of travel to this beautiful property. Marriott MUST reduce this $1000 per week increase and offer all owners the option of installments on our dues. Respectfully

Your restaurant Villagio at Renaissance Hotel at WGV in St Augustine is a joke–the service out of the kitchen was a nightmare and we live in the area and eat out almost every night and will NEVER come back to a place that doesn’t know how to service customers and doesn’t know the difference between a cheeseburger and a hamburger
