  1. This company is a joke my husband had an "accident " he hit a pot hole n the clipped a curb. Trying to avoid being hit by another car ..mind we are miss placed bc of losing our home to Harvey. So now my car is in the shop of over a month going on a month an half …n they can't get there stuff straight. First the appraiser they sent out misses part needing to be fixed 2 twice then they don't agree on the amount of time it will take to fix my car so they give them approval for what they think. So now on top of my very high deductible they want me to pay more… mind u bc of all this playing around back n forth we are loosing our home bc my husband can't get back and forth to work….

    Walter,

This whole process has been full of errors and mistakes that brings into question the leadership, guidance and the professional knowledge of this position. From not totaling the car, the out right unwillingness to provide any reasonable reason how the diminished value was calculated, not paying a invoice, to the Diminished Value Form being written wrong. If someone told me this happened to them, I would think they were laying.

The Elephant Diminished Value Letter was rewritten wrong twice. The first DV Letter had the wrong occuance day. The second DV Letter has the wrong dollar amount written out.

In addition I now question your clients name that is listed on both letters, Melissa Wilson, she is the mother.

Calista Wilson, the daughter, is the name of your client that hit my wife in the rear going 60 mph. I recall the policy holder is the father but I don't recall his name nor do I feel like going through 8 months of documents to find his name.

Will a third letter be written and sent for signature or will the wrong signed letter my wife sent yesterday be used?

    Respectfully,

    Patrick

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 12241520, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Elephant Insurance has yet again to provide documentation and/or the mythology used to determine the pre-wreck value and the after wreck value. This information is vital to determine if Elephant Insurance and its Third Party Appraiser failed to consider standard industry protocol to total a car was never used, never considered.

As to the statement I should speak to the Adjuster, in an email dated June 28, 2017, Walter Rivera refused to provide this requested information. Further more, Elephant Insurance has failed to prove that their offer of $1,573.00 is fair.

For example, if the car is worth $10,000 and needs $7000 worth of work, it's not worth it and will generally be labeled as a total loss. Generally, the cutoff is somewhere in the 70% to 75% range. In this case, the car is considered to be a total loss except for the value of scrap metal or potentially salvageable parts. An appraiser can check the damage done to a wrecked vehicle to determine the totaled car value. Using this information, Elephant Insurance would have to value my pre-wreck value over $16,500 to justified spending $11,559.24 in repair cost. In my submitted Diminished Value Report my vehicle was valued at $14,022..

If a car is totaled and covered by insurance, the owner should receive the value of the car (pre-wreck) in cash from the insuring company. This money can then be used to buy a new car. Because of this, most people generally decide not to attempt to repair totaled cars, however, another party will sometimes purchase them as a project or for an automotive class.

Again please provide documentation and/or the mythology used to determine the pre-wreck value and the after wreck value you used to determine your diminished value offer is a true and fair.

    Regards,

    Patrick

  3. How can Elephant Insurance tell me I purchase liability insurance for 1 vehicle and not 3 vehicles? I thought I was getting very good insurance, but unfortunately when I speak to someone who doesn't speak English very well setup my insurance ( recorded) and I said I would like full coverage on all 3 vehicles. Then all of a sudden my daughter gets into a BAD wreck. Call elephant and they say they have a recording of me saying I want liability on 2 vehicles but not on my daughter car. Now I called over and over. Finally got to speak to someone. And now my daughter car is totaled and has hospital bills. But no car. Elephant I want to hear my voice saying I said I wanted liability when I know I said I want full coverage on all vehicles. That's all I ask for. I hope you can sleep at night knowing you did my family and I wrong.
